The upcoming movie, *Avengers: Doomsday*, is proving to be a remarkably complicated project for Marvel Studios. With a huge cast of at least 27 well-known actors and a sprawling story involving multiple universes and a battle against Doctor Doom, the film presents significant logistical hurdles – even for experienced directors like Joe and Anthony Russo, who are known for their work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans are eager to see how the filmmakers will successfully bring everything together, especially since the current Multiverse Saga hasn’t built the same strong, connected storyline as the previous Infinity Saga. Despite these challenges, the Russos appear to be nearing completion of the film.

Avengers: Doomsday Wrapping Is a Surprising Development
Recently, it was reported that the script for *Avengers: Doomsday* wasn’t finished. Rebecca Romijn, returning as Mystique from the *X-Men* films, mentioned she wasn’t sure if she had completed filming due to the ongoing script issues. So, it’s a bit surprising to hear that the movie is now nearing completion. Romijn shared these thoughts in late July, and at the time, many aspects of the production still seemed unsettled. The fact that filming is wrapping up less than two months later might seem unusual.
One idea is that the film, currently known as *Doomsday*, has finished shooting in one location and is moving on to the next. Marvel might be showing appreciation to the crew who worked there. It’s worth noting that *Doomsday* has been filming for a long time – the livestream event showcasing the set happened almost six months ago. For comparison, *Avengers: Infinity War* took six months to film, from January to July in 2017. That’s a lengthy shoot for a single movie. The directors may have recently finalized the remaining script, which could explain a faster pace for the rest of filming.
As the release of *Doomsday* gets closer, fans are eager to learn who else stars in the film. Following a livestream event in March, Marvel’s Kevin Feige promised more casting news would be revealed later. While rumors about Ryan Reynolds and comments from Benedict Cumberbatch hint at potential roles, official confirmations are still pending. Marvel has notably skipped opportunities to share details, like at Comic-Con’s Hall H, leaving fans wondering when the announcements will come. Some hope the directors, the Russos, will announce the final cast in another livestream, mirroring how they first revealed cast members at the beginning of production. However, Marvel carefully controls information releases and may have a different plan.
Although filming is almost finished, there’s still work to be done on *Avengers: Doomsday*. The filmmakers will likely need to film additional scenes and re-shoot some parts as they refine the movie. This is common for large-scale Hollywood productions, particularly those with so many actors. With over a year until the movie’s release, it will be interesting to see what other news and details emerge about *Doomsday* in the coming months.
