I’ve always been amazed by how emotionally complex the Marvel movies can be. One scene that really stuck with me is in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when Peter Quill finally meets his father, Ego. For a while, it seems like Peter might actually get the family he’s longed for, but it quickly becomes clear that Ego is anything but a loving father. It’s shocking to learn Ego deliberately made Peter’s mom sick! Naturally, Peter is devastated and ends up having to destroy his father to save the galaxy. It leaves him really broken, but what I love is how his friends rally around him and help him deal with everything. It’s a powerful reminder that even superheroes need support.
A beloved Marvel hero may face some tough times soon, with rumors suggesting their quiet life will be disrupted in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. While they’re already a capable hero, the movie could put them through an incredibly difficult ordeal, drawing inspiration from a particularly dark storyline in Marvel Comics. If this happens, expect a lot of emotional moments as the Avengers fight to protect the multiverse.
Captain America’s Life in the Ultimate Universe Is Very Complicated

In the early 2000s, Marvel Comics decided to update its classic heroes with a new storyline called the Ultimate Universe. This reimagined the origins of characters like the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. While many heroes were drastically changed, Captain America’s core story remained similar – he still fought in World War II and was frozen in ice. After being revived in the present day, he joined a team called the Ultimates to defend the world from various dangers. However, trouble began when Captain America encountered the villainous organization AIM, who partnered with Red Skull to steal technology from the Baxter Building.
Captain America and Hawkeye faced the villains as usual, but the situation quickly became personal. Red Skull shockingly revealed to Captain America that he was his son. This news deeply affected Cap, and after confirming it was true, he was determined to stop him. Red Skull then obtained the Cosmic Cube, intending to travel back in time and prevent his own father from being frozen and taken by the government. However, his plan failed, and he was apprehended and died in custody. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe already has its own version of Red Skull, this specific storyline likely won’t be directly adapted in Doomsday. Instead, elements of it could be re-imagined and woven into the larger MCU narrative.
Steve Rogers Could Learn a Terrible Truth in Doomsday

The initial trailer for Doomsday shows Steve Rogers, having lived a life with Peggy Carter in another reality, returning to his original timeline. He briefly reconnects with his Captain America identity, fondly touching his suit, but quickly realizes he has more pressing matters to attend to – picking up his child. The trailer deliberately keeps the child’s identity a mystery, and this is likely intentional. Marvel Studios is probably being secretive about this important new character, potentially saving a major reveal for later in the story.
Currently, Doctor Doom’s goals in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are unclear. We see him appear on Earth-828 and take Franklin Richards, but that’s only a small part of the bigger picture. One possibility is that Doom is actually a future version of Steve Rogers’ son, driven to destroy the multiverse after discovering he shouldn’t exist. This idea connects to Steve accidentally causing a dangerous reality split, which could have consequences for his son later in life. While this doesn’t explain Doom’s name or the country of Latveria, it’s likely Marvel Studios could easily connect those pieces, especially if they want to create a truly compelling rivalry between Doom and Captain America.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026.
