I’m so excited! New trailers for Avengers: Doomsday are about to drop, and I have a feeling details will be all over the internet soon. It’s getting so close to the release date – less than a year now! – and Marvel is finally giving us a first look at what promises to be their biggest movie in years. I can’t wait to see what they have planned for the MCU in 2026 as these trailers come out.
Marvel Studios is planning to release four different trailers for Avengers: Doomsday in movie theaters before screenings of Disney’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. The first trailer will appear with the release of Avatar 3 on December 18th, and three more will follow over the next three weeks, debuting on December 25, 2025, January 1, 2026, and January 8, 2026.
The initial trailer revealed Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The trailer shows Steve driving to the home he settled into at the end of Avengers: Endgame. We see him looking at his Captain America uniform and then holding a baby, confirming he’s become a father. This marks his thirteenth appearance in an MCU film, and his twelfth as Steve Rogers.
Okay, so the trailer actually leaked before anyone could see it in theaters. It popped up online last Monday, the 15th – a full three days before Disney intended for it to be released. Fans were quick to record it on their phones and share those, admittedly blurry, videos all over social media. Disney didn’t waste any time, though – they immediately started sending out copyright takedown notices to get those videos removed. It was a bit of a scramble, honestly!
Fans have already gotten a preview of the upcoming second trailer for Doomsday, thanks to leaked audio that surfaced in mid-December. The trailer will center on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, who was the second actor officially announced for the cast following Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. It’s expected to show Thor desperately pleading with his deceased father, Odin (played by Anthony Hopkins), to allow him one last glimpse of his beloved Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) before his final moments.
The trailer is scheduled to play before showings of Avatar: Fire and Ash starting around Christmas, so it’s likely to appear online around Wednesday, December 24th. However, based on how the previous trailer with Evans was released, fans might start seeing leaked footage, audio, or descriptions as early as Monday, December 22nd.
The two trailers, scheduled to be released in January 2026, are expected to showcase different aspects of the movie. Current speculation suggests one trailer will highlight Robert Downey Jr.’s character, Doctor Doom, while the other will give a broader look at the film as a whole. Leaked versions of these trailers might appear online between December 29th and 31st, 2025, or between January 5th and 7th, 2026.
The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, is the third film in Marvel’s Phase 6 and the fifth Avengers movie overall. It will feature a massive cast of 27 stars, bringing together heroes from the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four to battle Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., who threatens to destroy the entire multiverse. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
Will Avengers: Doomsday’s Trailer Release Plan Work?

Initial reactions to Marvel’s plans for Avengers: Doomsday have been varied. Some fans have criticized Marvel for relying on Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) to revitalize the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the enthusiastic cheers and applause during the first public screenings of Doomsday footage are hard to ignore.
The coming weeks will be crucial, with Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, taking center stage before we see the other major heroes involved in this massive crossover. A key indicator of how things are going will be when Marvel reveals its first look at the next generation of heroes connected to Doomsday, some of whom haven’t appeared in a superhero film or show for a long time.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll see around five to seven minutes of clips from the movie, kicking off a larger promotional campaign. After these initial glimpses, it could be quite a while before the full movie is revealed to audiences.
Okay, so it’s been over seven years since we last saw the Avengers team up on the big screen, and let me tell you, Marvel knows this is a big deal. They’re going to be throwing everything they have at the marketing for this one – and rightfully so! They want to make absolutely sure it lives up to the incredible success of the previous Avengers films, and I expect a massive promotional push to make that happen.
