Okay, so a new rumor about Avengers: Doomsday is making me think I’m starting to understand how Marvel will finally bring the Fantastic Four into the main MCU storyline. It’s still just a rumor, of course, but it feels like a solid clue about what they’re planning.
What is the Fantastic 4’s rumored role in Avengers: Doomsday?
Okay, so I’m hearing some major news about the next movie! According to a reliable source, Doctor Doom is going to be a key player. Apparently, he’s not the villain this time – he’s actually asking our heroes for help with some serious multiversal problems, these things called ‘incursions.’ The team will then team up with Doom and head into the main MCU to spread the word, and eventually, they’ll all journey to the X-Men universe to try and prevent its destruction. It sounds like a huge, universe-hopping adventure is in store, and I’m already excited!
Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the rumor makes sense considering what happened in the post-credits scene of The Fantastic Four’s movie, First Steps. That scene showed Doctor Doom briefly appearing at the home of the Fantastic Four and interacting with Franklin Richards. The post-credits scene for Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts also hints at this team entering the same universe.
Several popular actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe are set to appear in the movie, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman (Sue Storm), Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, and Paul Rudd as Ant-Man.
The movie will also feature appearances by Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent/John Walker, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing/Ben Grimm, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
The next X-Men movie will feature the return of several familiar faces, including Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026.
