During the filming of “Avengers: Doomsday”, its script is still being refined, as shared by Rebecca Romijn who plays Mystique in the 2026 Marvel production. In a recent interview, the actress provided insights into the progress of the Russo brothers’ upcoming MCU project and disclosed that the filmmakers have yet to lock down the final version of the script.
Rebecca Romijn says Avengers: Doomsday’s script isn’t finished yet
At San Diego Comic-Con, where Star Trek: Strange New Worlds actress discussed her anticipated reprisal of Raven in Avengers 5, she mentioned that she’s unsure about filming additional scenes for Avengers: Doomsday because the script for that movie is still being finalized.
According to Rebecca Romijn’s statement to The Hollywood Reporter, “the script hasn’t been completed; it’s still being written.” She also added that it has been a lot of fun so far, and we don’t know the final details yet. To maintain secrecy, they are keeping things private, aiming to keep as much information hidden as possible.
Besides this announcement, the 52-year-old actress opted to keep quiet about her role in the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday sequel. When questioned if she had read the entire script for Avengers: Doomsday, Romijn responded, “I’m not able to verify or deny that I’ve read the whole script.” Furthermore, when asked about the actors she’ll be working alongside in Avengers 5, she merely said, “I can’t disclose that information.
As a devoted film enthusiast, I can’t help but share the unique sensation of slipping back into the skin of Mystique after years apart. Last time I donned this shape-shifting mutant role was in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, save for a fleeting appearance in X-Men: First Class. Now reunited with my old cast and meeting the newcomers, it felt like stepping into an oddly familiar dreamscape. During my extended stay on set, I found myself having vivid, almost regressive dreams – the kind that seemed to take me back to a simpler time.
It seems that Rebecca Romijn’s remarks indicate there are still minor adjustments being made to the script for Avengers: Doomsday, but its official release date, which is set for December 18, 2026, has already been determined.
