Avengers: Doomsday Shouldn’t Forget About The Massive Thor Showdown The MCU Already Set Up

The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, will likely feature a major battle for Thor. The latest trailer suggests Chris Hemsworth’s character will be fighting to protect his daughter, with Doctor Doom expected to be the main villain.

Doctor Doom is widely considered one of Marvel’s most powerful villains, and he’ll undoubtedly be a major challenge for Thor and the other heroes in the new movie. But it’s worth remembering that Thor has more than just Doctor Doom to worry about.

Thor: Love and Thunder hinted at a future where Thor would face his toughest physical battle yet. However, Marvel hasn’t shown any clear signs of building towards that. Since Marvel is secretive about its plans and will likely announce more cast members soon, the story could still go in many directions.

Thor Has A Fight With Hercules Coming

After his fight with Russell Crowe’s character, Thor now finds himself hunted by Hercules – played by Brett Goldstein and known as the son of Zeus. Hercules is one of the Marvel Universe’s most powerful heroes, often considered Thor’s equal in strength, and he’s vowed to find and defeat the God of Thunder.

Now that Hercules is searching for Thor after the events of Love and Thunder, it’s likely they’ll meet in the next Thor movie, even with Doctor Doom also planning to attack Earth and giving Thor a lot to deal with.

Even while trying to defeat Doom or save the universe, Thor might get challenged to an unwanted fight with Hercules. This could slow down his progress and potentially leave the Avengers short on powerful help when they face Doctor Doom in Doomsday.

Why Hercules Could Be A Secret Avengers: Doomsday Character

Hercules’ appearance at the end of the movie could seem like a hint towards a fifth Thor film. However, Taika Waititi, the director of Love and Thunder, has said that Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, was the one who suggested including Hercules. This suggests Hercules isn’t necessarily being set up for a Thor sequel, but might be part of a larger story, potentially leading to a future Avengers movie.

It makes sense that Hercules would appear in Avengers: Doomsday, given his long history with the team in Marvel comics. He became an Avenger in the 1960s and has been a consistent member ever since, playing a key role in many of their major adventures.

He often steps in when the Avengers need extra strength, filling Thor’s role when he’s unavailable. This makes him a potential permanent replacement for Thor on the team if Thor ever leaves the MCU. Introducing Hercules in films like Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars would be a great way to prepare audiences for that transition.
