Avengers: Doomsday Trailer – Top 10 Most Anticipated Reveals

The initial trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is expected to be released before the end of 2025, ahead of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire & Ash. As the first look at the epic conclusion of the Multiverse Saga – which will continue with Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027 – the trailer is anticipated to be packed with exciting details and build excitement for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This year’s releases of Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four: First Steps are building towards Avengers: Doomsday, which comes out next December. Because Marvel fans are so excited for the next big team-up, here are 10 things we’re hoping to see in the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.

An Explanation For Robert Downey Jr. As Doctor Doom

Everyone is wondering how Robert Downey Jr. will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Instead of playing his usual character, Iron Man (Tony Stark), he’s reportedly taking on the role of Doctor Doom.

It’s surprising to see Robert Downey Jr., best known as a founding Avenger, playing a major Marvel supervillain – a reveal that first happened at the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con. While the trailer for Doomsday doesn’t have to reveal everything, a hint about why Downey Jr. was cast in this role would be welcome.

This discovery, believed to be evidence of a multiverse with endless possibilities, makes it especially interesting to consider why Robert Downey Jr. is taking on the role of Doctor Doom and how that might relate to his character’s fate as Iron Man.

Rifts Between Avengers Teams

As Marvel prepares for the Avengers: Doomsday event, the future of Earth’s heroes is a bit complicated. Sam Wilson, as Captain America, announced plans to assemble a new Avengers team in Brave New World. However, the Thunderbolts series showed a team of anti-heroes evolving into a new version of the Avengers, even taking over the original Avengers Tower – which is why the title includes an asterisk.

The scene after the credits of Thunderbolts hinted that Wilson isn’t pleased with the New Avengers, especially since he’s building his own team of heroes (we only know one member so far, Joaquin Torres’ Falcon). It would be great if the upcoming trailer showed some tension between these two groups, building on that hint.

The Fantastic Four Meeting Heroes From Earth-616

The arrival of the Fantastic Four in the main Marvel Cinematic Universe will be a huge event, especially after their introduction in the 2025 film, Fantastic Four: First Steps. Hints about their appearance have already surfaced – both in the Thunderbolts movie, suggesting they’re coming from another universe, and in a post-credits scene from First Steps itself, which showed Doctor Doom confronting the incredibly powerful son of Reed and Sue Richards, Franklin.

I’m really hoping the new Fantastic Four movie connects to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe! The word is they’re chasing Doctor Doom through different realities to rescue Franklin Richards, and that could bring them right into our MCU timeline. I’d absolutely love to see the Fantastic Four meet heroes like Captain America and Thor – the first trailer for Doomsday would be the perfect place to hint at that!

The X-Men Entering The Chat

After revealing some of the first actors cast, Avengers: Doomsday is predicted to bring together the heroes from the main Marvel Cinematic Universe and the X-Men from the former Fox film series.

So far, the cast of Doomsday includes several actors who previously played the X-Men: Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.

It would be really thrilling to see any of these characters appear with the Avengers in the first trailer for Doomsday, hinting at possible future collaborations against Doctor Doom – or even disagreements within the team.

A Tease For Doctor Doom’s Plans

All the best Avengers movies feature a truly memorable villain, and Doctor Doom, as a threat that spans multiple universes, could easily be one of the greatest they’ve ever faced.

The initial trailer doesn’t need to give everything away, but it would be great to get a hint of what Doom is planning and what he wants, particularly if he’s going to be the main bad guy in Secret Wars, like in the comics.

With whispers spreading that Doom intends to dominate and remake the entire multiverse in his own vision, we’re aiming for a portrayal that feels both grand in scale and intensely personal. Think of Thanos – a villain convinced he’s actually saving the universe through force or by becoming all-powerful.

A Previously Unannounced Big Name

The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday could create a huge stir by featuring a surprise actor – perhaps Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, or even Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider. Revealing someone not already announced would definitely generate excitement.

As a huge Marvel fan, I totally get they want to keep the biggest surprises – especially any multiverse cameos – a secret until we actually see the movie. But honestly, even a little unexpected face popping up would be amazing and really get everyone hyped!

A Thor/Loki Reunion

It’s been a while since the Avengers team worked together, and Avengers: Doomsday seems poised to reunite them.

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m thrilled to hear that both Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will be in the big crossover event! And speaking of Loki, the way season 2 ended was incredible – seeing him evolve beyond just the God of Mischief into this powerful, multiversal being who’s practically holding the entire timeline together is just amazing. It really sets the stage for what’s to come.

It would be fantastic if the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday showed even a glimpse of Thor and Loki finally reuniting.

The General Stakes For The Beginning Of The Multiverse Saga’s End

The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, is the first part of a two-part conclusion to the Multiverse Saga. Because of this, fans will need to understand what’s at stake relatively soon to stay fully engaged with the story.

We might get our first glimpse of this when the trailer for Doomsday comes out later this year, potentially showing us what’s at risk and the dangers facing different universes. We already know incursions – events where universes collide – can cause widespread destruction and chaos across the multiverse.

Although Marvel Studios won’t reveal everything at once, exciting visuals of worlds merging and timelines breaking down would help showcase the upcoming crossovers as truly epic events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

From the very beginning, the new threat to the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs to feel more significant and impactful than Thanos and his quest for the Infinity Stones.

Comic-Accurate Costumes For The X-Men

With the success of X-Men ’97, many Marvel fans are hoping to see the X-Men’s costumes be more faithful to the comics. The previous X-Men movies from Fox largely featured dark, leather-based uniforms with simpler designs. Fans would love to see the classic looks – like Cyclops in blue and yellow, Magneto in red and purple, and Nightcrawler in red and white – brought to life on screen.

If the movie Doomsday delivers even a small taste of what we’re hoping for, the initial trailer will have successfully generated excitement and anticipation.

A Combination of The Avengers and X-Men Themes

Music is crucial, even in movie trailers. Marvel fans especially love hearing familiar, powerful themes from their favorite superheroes, so combining two of the best would be a real win.

Imagine hearing the powerful music from The Avengers mixed with the iconic theme songs from X-Men – either the classic cartoon or the live-action movies. It would be incredibly moving! This combination would beautifully represent the huge crossover event the Marvel Cinematic Universe is building towards, bringing together fans old and new.

If the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday includes even a fraction of these exciting scenes, Marvel Studios could rebuild strong enthusiasm for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has been somewhat unsteady since the end of the Infinity Saga.

With Doctor Doom’s introduction featuring RDJ, the addition of the X-Men, and the Avengers team fully reassembled (in fact, two teams!), the next trailer might signal the start of the most ambitious story Marvel has ever told.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to release in theaters on December 18th, 2026
