Avengers: Doomsday Will Officially Feature 12 Reformed Villains

The Avengers are reuniting in Avengers: Doomsday! With Doctor Doom causing chaos, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will need all the help it can get. Expect to see familiar heroes like Captain America, Thor, and Ant-Man back in action. To succeed, they’ll even have to team up with some unlikely and questionable allies.

Currently, the superhero team in Doomsday has almost as many characters with questionable morals as it does true heroes. Many of those fighting for the ‘good’ side have troubled pasts – some were outright villains, while others are simply self-serving. It’s unclear if they’ll stay on the right path, but they have a chance to both redeem themselves and save the entire multiverse.

Every Former Villain Set To Appear in Avengers: Doomsday

Loki

Loki, often called the God of Mischief, had a difficult childhood that fueled his villainous behavior. He tried to take over as king of Asgard and even attempted to conquer Earth. However, his experiences with the Time Variance Authority (TVA) in the Disney+ series changed him, ultimately leading him to accept his role protecting the multiverse.

Bucky Barnes

Bucky Barnes always dreamed of fighting alongside his childhood friend, Steve Rogers. But HYDRA captured and brainwashed him, transforming him into the dangerous assassin known as the Winter Soldier. After years of struggling to overcome this programming, Bucky is now ready to rejoin the New Avengers and fight with Steve once again.

Yelena Belova

Growing up, Yelena Belova learned from the Red Room that survival meant eliminating anyone who stood in your way. This training turned her into a highly skilled mercenary who always obeyed orders. But after her sister, Natasha Romanoff, died, Yelena decided she wants to honor Natasha’s legacy by becoming an Avenger.

Ghost

Ava Starr lost her family and normal life because of SHIELD, which made her understandably angry when she appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp. After finding some resolution, she started working as a mercenary. However, Thunderbolts showed that she actually has the potential to be a true hero, even if she doesn’t quite believe it herself.

Red Guardian

Alexei Shostakov, known as the Red Guardian, was the Soviet Union’s version of Captain America. After his time as a hero ended, he struggled to find meaning in his life. The Red Room offered him a new role, but he regretted the harm he caused and wanted to atone for his actions. Now, he’s trying to live a better life and has teamed up with his adopted daughter, Yelena, establishing a base at Avengers Tower.

US Agent

The US government chose John Walker to take over as Captain America, believing he was a capable soldier. However, he proved to be a problem for Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes while they battled the Flag Smashers. After losing the shield, John’s life didn’t improve, and he began working as a mercenary. Fortunately, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now giving him an opportunity to redeem himself and fight for justice.

Sentry

Bob Reynolds initially sought assistance, but unexpectedly became the subject of experiments by OXE Group. These experiments granted him extraordinary powers, but also created a dangerous alternate personality called the Void, which posed a massive threat to New York City. The Thunderbolts rescued Bob and gave him the sense of family he always longed for. With the support of his friends, Sentry has the potential to be a powerful force against Doom.

Mystique

Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique last played a significant role in a Marvel film when she lost her abilities and was abandoned by Magneto – a surprising turn, considering how consistently loyal and resourceful she’d been for him. In the upcoming film, Doomsday, Mystique and Magneto could team up again, but this time to assist other mutants instead of causing harm.

Magneto

Magneto is driven by a desire to prevent the mistakes of the past. Throughout the X-Men films produced by Fox, he consistently aimed to protect mutants at all costs. This motivation will likely remain central to his character in Doomsday. However, this time, ensuring the survival of mutants will also mean saving humanity, as Doctor Doom probably won’t target any single group during his campaign.

Namor

Let me tell you about Talokan, a hidden underwater kingdom that enjoyed centuries of peace until outsiders started hunting for vibranium in their waters. When Wakanda didn’t step in to help, Talokan’s fierce ruler, Namor, declared war, and tragically, Queen Ramonda paid the ultimate price. But here’s where it gets interesting: Shuri, now the Black Panther, showed Namor a surprising amount of mercy during their battle, choosing to spare his life. That moment, that connection between them, feels incredibly important, and I have a strong feeling it’s going to be central to what happens next in the story.

Namora

Namora developed a strong dislike for humans after witnessing their actions, and she frequently started conflicts in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. However, her dedication to Namor is even stronger than her hatred. If Namor decides to work with Shuri and the Avengers, Namora will readily join him.

Attuma

Similar to Namora, Attuma responded to Namor’s call to war and caused destruction in Wakanda Forever. He had a particularly notable fight with Okoye, ultimately defeating her. Although the Wakandans will likely find it difficult to fight alongside Attuma in Doomsday, they’ll need to cooperate with him for now.
