Avengers: Endgame Secretly Confirmed the Guardians of the Galaxy Would’ve Easily Won the Avengers’ First Fight

The Avengers’ fight in New York is still considered a key moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing the first team of heroes together to battle Loki and his alien army. However, things weren’t easy for Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, and Hawkeye, as they had to learn to cooperate and overcome a completely new and dangerous threat from outer space.

As a huge Marvel fan, I always remember the Battle of New York as this incredibly intense, destructive event – it really felt like the fate of the world hung in the balance, and Tony Stark nearly made the ultimate sacrifice to win. But I recently came across a deleted scene from Avengers: Endgame that totally changed my perspective! Rocket is watching footage of the battle, and he’s genuinely shocked that the Avengers fought the Chitauri for two or three hours. He just blurts out, “The Chitauri are the suckiest army in the galaxy,” and honestly, it’s hilarious coming from him. It makes you realize how powerful the Avengers really are if they were struggling with such a weak force, even if it felt like a huge deal at the time!

Does This Mean The Guardians Are More Powerful Than The OG Avengers?

Rocket jokingly reveals that the Avengers could have won the battle much faster by destroying the enemy’s main ship. He points out this would have wiped out the entire army instantly, but Steve Rogers admits they weren’t aware of this option, which earns a sarcastic laugh from one of the Guardians. While the moment is amusing and doesn’t significantly impact the plot, Rocket seems a bit harsh in criticizing the Avengers.

The Guardians of the Galaxy aren’t necessarily stronger than the Avengers, but they excel in different areas. They’re especially well-equipped to handle dangers that come from space – it’s reflected in their name! Had the original Guardians team faced these threats, they would have been more effective. Rocket’s expertise, combined with Gamora’s potential insight as Thanos’ daughter and their advanced technology, would have given them an edge. The Guardians were specifically prepared for enemies like the Chitauri, Ronan, and Ego the Living Planet.

It’s unlikely the original Avengers had any previous encounters with the Chitauri, aside from possibly Thor. Comparing the initial lineups, the Avengers were actually the more powerful team, largely due to the incredible strength of Hulk and Thor. While the Guardians have become stronger with additions like Adam Warlock and Phyla-Vell, the outcome of a battle would still depend on which Avengers are assembled for Avengers: Doomsday.

A deleted scene from Endgame reveals another flaw in Thanos’ plan, making it seem even more misguided. Giving the Mind Stone to Loki was already a risky move, considering Thanos was trying to gather all the Infinity Stones. And the fact that he then relied on what seems to be a remarkably ineffective army only reinforces how poor his judgment was – it’s no surprise he ultimately had to take matters into his own hands.

The Chitauri did reappear in Endgame, fighting alongside Thanos and his Black Order during the battle for Earth. It’s notable that Rocket didn’t make any sarcastic comments or suggest destroying their mothership this time, hinting that defeating them wasn’t as simple as he’d implied before.
