A recent report suggests that Avengers: Secret Wars will follow a similar production schedule to Doomsday. The fifth and sixth Avengers movies will wrap up the current Multiverse Saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, telling a large-scale story across different realities with a huge cast of heroes from the MCU and other universes. Although the two films will have many of the same actors and filmmakers and will be released a year apart, it wasn’t clear how similar they would be in terms of production.
A recent report from Hollywood North Buzz suggests that filming for Avengers: Secret Wars and Doomsday may follow similar schedules. The website, known for tracking movie production, states that Secret Wars is planned to film in London, England for five months, from April to September 2026.
This filming schedule is very similar to the one used for Doomsday this year. Like that film, production took place in the United Kingdom between April and September, aiming for a release in December of the next year.
This gives Secret Wars more than a year for finishing touches like editing and any additional filming. It also allows the studio plenty of time to perfect all aspects of the movie, especially the complex visual effects needed for such a large-scale production.
Scheduled for release in theaters on December 17, 2027, Avengers: Secret Wars will conclude the current story arc of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, known as the Multiverse Saga. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who also directed Avengers: Endgame, the film is expected to be based on the popular Secret Wars comic book storyline. This story involves heroes from different universes battling each other, ultimately leading to a significant shift in the main Marvel universe.
Comparing and Contrasting Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars

The matching production timeframe isn’t the only connection between Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: Doomsday.
Both movies will be made by the same creative team – the same writers and directors will work on this two-part story. The Russo Brothers, who just finished filming Doomsday, will then immediately begin work on Secret Wars as they prepare to promote Doomsday.
I’m so excited that most of the cast we love is returning! Of course, we might lose a few characters during the events of Doomsday, but it sounds like Robert Downey Jr. will be playing Doctor Doom as the big bad guy in both movies. And thankfully, heroes like Pedro Pascal’s Mr. Fantastic, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America will be there to fight alongside each other to save the entire Multiverse!
As a film fan, I don’t expect Secret Wars and Doomsday to be quite as tightly linked as the last two Avengers movies, Infinity War and Endgame. Those were filmed practically at the same time, which really allowed them to flow together. I don’t think we’ll see that same level of connection here.
The following two movies should be similar in quality, though there will likely be a bit more time between their releases.
There’s a lot of discussion about whether Secret Wars and Doomsday will connect like Infinity War and Endgame did. Many believe Doomsday will focus on a conflict between the X-Men and the Avengers, while Secret Wars will be the story where heroes ultimately team up to defeat Doctor Doom – the outcome fans might have expected from Doomsday.
