James Gunn’s revamped DC Universe has big plans for Batman, and it’s not just the hero himself being reimagined. As DC Studios begins its first chapter, “Gods and Monsters,” with a planned solo Batman movie, other key characters from Batman’s world will also be joining the new franchise.
Ariana Greenblatt recently mentioned on the Just The Nobodys Podcast that she’s eager to play a larger superhero character, and she specifically hopes to portray Catwoman for DC Comics. She expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I would love to play Catwoman. I would love to!”
Justice Smith, who starred alongside her in Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, mentioned he’d love to play the superhero Beast Boy from the Teen Titans. Greenblatt quickly responded, saying she would be happy to play Raven alongside him.
Most fans recognize Alexandra Greenblatt as the young Gamora from Avengers: Infinity War. Since then, she’s become well-known for roles in popular projects like Barbie and Ahsoka, where she portrayed a younger version of Rosario Dawson’s character.
Okay, so James Gunn dropped a little bomb on Threads last September 29th. Someone asked about Selina Kyle – you know, Catwoman – and Gunn pretty much confirmed she’s definitely coming to the DCU. He didn’t give away any details about when or where we’ll first see her, just a simple “Oh for sure,” which leaves us all guessing where she’ll pop up in this new universe. It’s exciting news, though! We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled.
Although it hasn’t been officially approved, a Teen Titans movie is in development with Ana Nogueira, who wrote for Supergirl, writing the script. However, work on the Teen Titans movie is currently paused because she’s focused on writing the screenplay for the new Wonder Woman movie in the DC Universe.
Andy Muschietti is directing The Brave and the Bold, the upcoming movie that will introduce Batman into the new DC Universe. Although they’re writing the script, it’s currently unknown how close DC Studios is to finishing it.
The DC Universe (DCU) is returning in 2026. New projects include the Supergirl movie on June 26th, the Clayface movie on September 11th, and the Lanterns TV series, which will be available on HBO.
