The highly anticipated role-playing game from Xbox Game Studios by Obsidian Entertainment, titled “Avowed,” is approaching, and players are eagerly anticipating their immersion into this new world. However, before they can plunge into the world of Eora (similar to the setting of Obsidian’s previous Pillars of Eternity games), there’s a bit more time for everyone to get ready.
Although it would undoubtedly be advantageous to start playing Avowed after having experienced Pillars of Eternity and its successor, fear not, as freshcomers will not miss out on the action. To ensure that new players are well-equipped with all the essential knowledge about the world of Eora, Obsidian Entertainment is providing a five-part video tutorial series for prospective adventurers.
This initial segment focuses on various kinds of beings (species) in the world of Eora, ranging from ordinary humans to ethereal elves. Appropriately, this episode is told by Matthew Mercer, a renowned actor who has lent his voice to countless characters and serves as Dungeon Master for Critical Role.
As an analyst, I’d rephrase it this way: In the world of Eora, I find myself surrounded by diverse races. Besides humans and elves, there are the imposing Aumawa, robust Dwarves, and the intriguing Orlans. In the game Avowed, players have the freedom to select whether they wish to embody a Human or an Elf. However, their journey will inevitably lead them to encounter these other races, some as potential allies and others as formidable adversaries. Additionally, Eora is home to the Godlikes, individuals who were divinely touched at birth, leading to unique appearances and extraordinary physical attributes.
I’m absolutely going to watch out for the upcoming episodes of Avowed, which are due out soon. I can hardly wait as it will be here in just a few weeks! Mercer’s voice is always a pleasure to listen to, and this seems like an excellent opportunity to get up-to-speed on all the latest information before diving into Avowed.
Based on my colleague Zachary Boddy’s experiences with the game, I’m quite excited to explore this fresh fantasy journey that Obsidian has created, as I have read their thoughts on it.
As a researcher, I’m excited to announce that my upcoming projects, part of the wave of first-party games from Xbox set for release in 2025, include intriguing titles like “South of Midnight” by Compulsion Games and “DOOM: The Dark Ages” by id Software. If you’re as eager as I am to delve deeper into these games, mark your calendars! They will both be showcased during the upcoming Xbox Developer_Direct on January 23, 2025, starting at 1:00 p.m. ET.
As an analyst, I’m thrilled to announce that my upcoming project, “Avowed,” is set to debut on February 18, 2025, simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. Notably, it will be available for immediate play on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on the same day. For those eager to dive in early, preordering the deluxe edition of the game grants access five days ahead of schedule, starting from February 13. To help you decide which version suits your gaming needs best, I encourage you to check out our comprehensive “Avowed Preorder Guide.
