Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon reveal one piece of advice from the judges that has stuck with them

Earlier this month, both Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon competed in dance-offs on consecutive weekends, and they sometimes received harsh feedback from the judges.

I have to say, despite some early challenges, this couple really turned things around! They avoided the dreaded dance-off last week and are moving on to this weekend’s show. I’m particularly excited to see their Rumba – apparently, it’s a real workout for the EastEnders actress, and the previews suggest it’s going to be captivating.

Balvinder and Julian are preparing for their next performance, and they’ve been relying on advice from judge Motsi Mabuse to help them throughout the competition.

We were relieved to make it through the dance-off, but also a bit surprised we had to go through it again. When Motsi came over and encouraged us to keep going, it really helped. She reminded us that being in the dance-off happens to many people throughout the competition, even until the final, so we shouldn’t get discouraged. It was a really kind message, and it came at just the right moment.

They’ve continued to perform well! Last weekend, their Quickstep, inspired by Beyoncé, earned them 28 points and kept them out of the bottom two. Now, they’re aiming to move even higher on the leaderboard.

Our dance tells a story in three parts. It begins with a feeling of intense infatuation, almost an obsession, like being under a spell.

It usually involves some conflict and back-and-forth, but it generally ends with a return to romance.
