Following the positive reception of *Battlefield 6*, Battlefield Studios is looking ahead to the game’s future. They plan to heavily utilize playtesting through *Battlefield* Labs as a core part of the development process. In a recent PCGamer interview (reported by GamesRadar), lead producer Nika Bender and design director Salim Fasahat explained that Labs will be crucial for ongoing development, and they’ve already found feedback from playtests incredibly helpful.
Developing a game while players are actively using it allows us to quickly gather their thoughts. BF Labs is how we collect this feedback during the development process, so we can make changes based on it. Bender explained that listening to the community has always been a core part of our development philosophy, as we strongly believe in understanding and responding to what players want.
Fasahat explained how Battlefield Labs helped create Battlefield 6 and will continue to be a key part of how Battlefield Studios develops games in the future. The team also plans to fine-tune even the smallest details of gameplay, such as how quickly players are killed or die.
According to Fasahat, Battlefield Labs has been incredibly helpful in the game’s development, and they plan to continue using it regularly. A lot of the testing focuses on weapon performance – specifically, how quickly players can eliminate each other, which was a key concern raised by the community. They’re currently experimenting with and adjusting these elements within Labs.
The development team has been working hard on *Battlefield 6*, and recent playtests, including the open beta in August, were crucial for making sure the game’s online servers could handle a large number of players at launch. Lead producer David Sirland shared his excitement for the launch on social media, explaining that the beta helped them estimate player interest and prepare the servers accordingly.
Battlefield Studios has detailed a large day-one patch for the game, including over 200 improvements and fixes to gameplay and multiplayer. They also state that this new Battlefield title has undergone more testing and refinement than any previous game in the series, with players logging over 92 million hours during the beta phase.
Battlefield 6 will receive a lot of new content when its first season begins on October 28th. This content will be released in three phases, each adding things like new maps and game modes roughly every month. You can find a detailed breakdown of the Season 1 plans in our coverage of the Battlefield 6 roadmap.
