Battlefield 6 Ditches Xbox One & PS4, Release Date Leaked

It seems that Battlefield 6, one of the highly anticipated games of the upcoming year, will not be available on Xbox One and PS4. Moreover, there appears to have been a leak regarding its release date. This game is eagerly awaited as it marks the return of one of gaming’s most renowned shooter franchises. Despite some issues with Battlefield 2042, fans remain hopeful that Electronic Arts (EA) and Battlefield Studios can reclaim its former glory with the next game. After several months of hints and testing, Battlefield 6 is gearing up for its marketing phase, preparing to launch sometime within the next year.

Today, we got our first glimpse of the upcoming game, Battlefield 6, with its debut trailer. While the footage wasn’t actual gameplay, it seemed to offer a sneak peek into the game’s storyline. Unlike its predecessor, Battlefield 2042, this new installment appears to include a campaign mode – a welcome return considering that was missing from the previous version. The trailer hinted at part of the game being set in the United States, as it showcased an intense battle taking place in New York City. The narrative seems to center around a Private Military Company called Pax Armata, whose mission is to dismantle NATO and its allies, implying a tense global confrontation.

Battlefield 6‘s October Release Date Leaks; No Last-Gen Release

Next week, we’ll get a closer look at Battlefield 6 during its major multiplayer reveal event. Although some details have leaked out prior to the official announcement, fans can already wishlist the game on consoles. Interestingly, Battlefield 6 does not appear on the list for Xbox One or PS4. Instead, it’s slated for release on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. This change is a positive development, as it means that the game won’t be hampered by hardware that’s 12 years old.

In five years from now, it’s predicted that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will come out for PS4 and Xbox One, much like other popular franchises such as NBA 2K. Some franchises are moving away from older consoles, but there was some worry that Battlefield might stay with last-gen due to its larger player base. Interestingly, a pre-sale offer for Battlefield 6 has a deadline of October 10th, 2025, hinting at the game’s potential release on this date, which has been widely speculated already. We should expect more details during the full reveal event next week.
