Battlefield 6 Producer Says Future Seasons Won’t See Delays

I’m excited Season 2 of Battlefield 6 is finally here! The developers at Battlefield Studios explained why the update was pushed back from January – they just needed a little more time to get things right. The good news, according to DICE producer Phil Girette, is that we shouldn’t expect future seasons to be delayed like this one was. That’s a huge relief, and I can’t wait to jump back in!

The teams at DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studios—collectively known as Battlefield Studios—worked together to make sure the launch of Battlefield 6 went well. After the launch, the developers determined they needed more time to finish the content planned for Season 2.

Girette explained that while past game launches haven’t always gone perfectly, the launch of Battlefield 6 went surprisingly well. However, creating a launch takes significant effort, and the team decided to delay the release of Season 2 content to allow for more polish and ensure it meets player expectations.

Okay, so I heard from the team that they’re really focusing on getting new seasons out way faster now. Apparently, everyone from the marketing folks to the developers is working together to make sure the next season drops as soon as the current one finishes up on schedule. It sounds like they’ve learned from past delays and are trying to avoid that from now on, which is awesome for us players!

Planning out future seasons involves a lot more than just the game itself, including extensive marketing and coordinating timings across many different areas. We’re taking steps in various departments to ensure players receive new seasons promptly after each one concludes, and that future seasons launch as scheduled.

Today marks the start of Season 2 for Battlefield 6 with the launch of the new Contaminated map. Players can also look forward to a variety of new weapons and vehicles. Plus, limited-time game modes are available: VL-7 Strike for standard multiplayer, and Gauntlet Altered State and Synthesis specifically for REDSEC.

On March 17th, a new map called Hagental Base and a special event, Nightfall, will be available. Alongside these, players can look forward to a new pistol, submachine gun, and the M1030-1 motorcycle for land travel. Season 2’s third month will conclude with the limited-time Operation Augur game mode.

Last week, Battlefield Studios shared an update about upcoming changes. The update will make it easier to progress in the game, with less focus on challenges tied to specific game modes. Players of REDSEC will earn more experience points for their careers and weapons while playing. The update also includes improvements to weapons, making them easier to control and reducing recoil.

Battlefield 6 is now available to play on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. You can find more information, including a preview of the new Contagion map with gas mask gameplay, online. Plus, Battlefield 6 was the top-selling game in the United States in 2025.
