The unveiling trailer for Battlefield 6 has arrived, offering gamers a sneak peek into the projects that various teams at Electronic Arts (EA) have been working on for several years.
In this trailer, it seems like actor Josh Brolin, although it might be someone else, is depicted as the President of the United States addressing the nation about an attack. He also condemns mercenaries employed by a company called Pax Armata.
You can watch the Battlefield 6 reveal trailer here:
In the game, there are currently two confirmed factions: Pax Armata and an unnamed group that resembles NATO forces. The trailer hints at conflict within America, with iconic locations like New York City being attacked, potentially causing a divide in the United States.
The development of Battlefield 6 is a collaborative effort among four studios under Electronic Arts (EA), collectively referred to as “Battlefield Studios” for the trailer. The main storyline for Battlefield 6 is being led by Motive Studios, who are renowned for their work on the Dead Space remake and have previously supported various DICE titles.
A multiplayer reveal is set to follow
The primary attraction that most (if not all) Battlefield 6 players are eagerly anticipating is the multiplayer mode, and luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer for more information about it. EA has announced that they will unveil the multiplayer aspect of Battlefield 6 on July 31, 2025, which is only a week prior to the release of the campaign trailer.
The development of the multiplayer mode is being handled by long-term series developer DICE, with Criterion assisting in both the multiplayer and campaign production. Interestingly, Ripple Effect (previously known as DICE L.A.) is working on a brand new game mode. The specifics are still unclear, but there’s a lot of buzz suggesting that it could be a free-to-play mode, similar to Call of Duty: Warzone, which complements other Call of Duty games.
Though the platforms have not been officially confirmed yet, Battlefield 6 is expected to release on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5.
Battlefield 6 comes at a critical time for EA
For Electronic Arts (EA), Battlefield 6 assumes significant importance as it debuts following a series of project cancellations and mass layoffs within the company.
In recent months, EA has closed down Cliffhanger Games, scrapping their Black Panther game. Previously, EA also let go of hundreds of employees across studios like Respawn Entertainment, terminating a Titanfall project in its infancy.
Going back to 2024, EA canceled a Star Wars shooter under development at Respawn Entertainment, resulting in the dismissal of 670 employees company-wide.
With several studios devoted to this single game, anticipation is likely high. The last Battlefield installment, Battlefield 2042, released in 2021 and received mixed reviews due to player complaints about bugs and map design.
It’s noteworthy that there are other projects underway within the EA group. Respawn is currently working on a third game in its Star Wars Jedi series. Additionally, Respawn is offering support for Star Wars: Zero Company, a turn-based strategy game during the Clone Wars, with development being headed by an external team at Bit Reactor. This game is slated for release in 2025, and I personally can’t wait for it!
