Battlefield 6 roadmap confirmed: All future plans explained

The latest Battlefield game has launched and is already proving popular with players, based on initial numbers.

Like all online games, the launch is only the start. EA plans to release many updates for the game throughout 2025.

Here’s a summary of everything we’ve learned about the upcoming content, covering Season 1 and the battle royale mode that’s planned for the future.

Is there a Battlefield 6 post-launch roadmap?

In short, yes, Battlefield 6 does have a post-launch roadmap.

EA has announced what players can expect after launch in Season 1, with content planned through the end of the year. What comes after that is still unknown.

The three chapters in Season 1 are:

  • Rogue Ops – 28th October
  • California Resistance – 18th November
  • Winter Offensive – 9th December

These updates will bring fresh content for players regularly, giving you consistent reasons to play. You can find all the specifics below!

What’s on the Battlefield 6 roadmap?

Battlefield 6 Season 1

Rogue Ops will introduce the following on 28th October:

  • New map: Blackwell Fields
  • New vehicle: Traverser Mark 2
  • New weapons: SOR-300SC Carbine, GGH-22 sidearm, Mini Scout sniper rifle
  • New attachment: Rail cover & LPVO
  • New mode: Strikepoint

In November, California Resistance will introduce all this on 18th November:

  • New map: Eastwood
  • New weapons: DB-12 shotgun, M327 Trait sidearm
  • New mechanic: Battle Pickups
  • New mode: Sabotage

Finally, Winter Offensive will add the following on 9th December:

  • New map variant: Ice Lock Empire State
  • New weapon: Ice Climbing Axe melee
  • New event: Ice Lock

What about the Battle Royale mode?

There’s no word yet on when the next Battlefield game will come out, but the developers at Battlefield Studios will likely take the time needed to make sure it’s polished and ready. Previous games have experimented with modes like battle royale and extraction shooters – Battlefield 2042 tried an extraction mode briefly, and Battlefield V’s Firestorm battle royale arrived too late to really make an impact.

In the next few weeks, you’ll likely see even more creative players making Portal modes that feel like battle royale games.

It’s likely this new feature will be released with a seasonal update, probably sometime in 2026. Considering the first season is scheduled to run until the end of this year, that’s the current expectation.

Season 2 and beyond

Because Battlefield doesn’t release a new game every year like Call of Duty, we can likely expect its future updates and content to be supported for a longer period.

The developers shared an update on X (formerly Twitter) about Season 1, and also acknowledged player requests for features like naval combat, the inclusion of a popular small helicopter, and the ability to form platoons.

Would it be possible to add a naval component to the game? Hopefully, it could include a mode similar to Titan mode from the original Battlefield 2142, which later evolved into the Carrier Assault DLC for Battlefield 4.
