Battlefield 6 has launched, and the first weekend was full of action! Many players, including us, found ourselves desperately needing a medic – and often just missing them. But that’s just the beginning, with plenty more content on the way.
Like a lot of other popular shooting games, and especially compared to Call of Duty, EA is doing things a bit differently with this game. They’re planning to release new content throughout the year, broken up into seasons, and the best part is, it’s all going to be free for everyone who plays!
As a fan, I really appreciate that this makes the game accessible to everyone! It’s awesome because it means no one gets left behind – we’re all on a level playing field and can enjoy the game together, instead of having a big gap between those who can spend a lot and those who can’t.
Okay, so I’ve been waiting for this! Here’s the lowdown on everything dropping in Battlefield 6 with Season 1, and when we’ll actually be able to jump in and play it all.
Battlefield 6 Season 1 launch date

Battlefield 6 season 1 will start on Tuesday 28th October.
A notable feature of Battlefield 6 is how its first season is broken down into three parts. The first of these, called Rogue Ops, will be released on October 28th – only a few weeks after the game itself comes out.
Next up are California Resistance on November 18th and Winter Offensive on December 9th. Here’s a breakdown of what each one offers.
What to expect from Battlefield 6 Season 1

The first update for Rogue Ops will add several new weapons to the game. Players can look forward to the SOR-300SC Carbine, the GGH-22 pistol, and a Mini Scout sniper rifle. A new rail cover and Low Power Variable Optic (LPVO) attachment will also be available, and will work well with both rifles and Light Machine Guns.
The update will feature a new vehicle, the Traverser Mark 2, which looks like an armored troop carrier with a mounted gun. It also adds a new game mode to Strikepoint.
Strikepoint is a team-based game where players have only one life per match, and the goal is to capture a specific point. However, the biggest new feature will likely be the Blackwell Fields map.
It supports all combat sizes, with land and air combat taking place across the California badlands.
That sets the template for what to expect in both California Resistance and Winter Offensive, too.

California Resistance is getting a new map called Eastwood on November 18th. Players will battle on land and in the air around a wealthy neighborhood and a golf course.
The latest game mode is called Sabotage. In it, teams switch between trying to destroy the other team’s objectives and protecting their own. The team that successfully sabotages more locations wins.
The next update introduces several new items, including the DB-12 shotgun, the M327 sidearm, the Slim Handstop attachment, and Battle Pickups. Battle Pickups are powerful, but limited-use weapons that randomly appear on maps – a feature returning from previous versions of the game.

The Winter Offensive update arrives on December 9th, bringing a frozen version of the Empire State map. It also includes a new ‘Ice Lock’ modifier and an ‘Ice Climbing Axe’ for close-quarters combat.
We’ll share more details about the update soon, and Season 2 is currently expected to arrive in early 2026.
We’ll keep bringing you all the latest Battlefield 6 intel as soon as we have it.
