For enthusiasts of Battlefield, there’s even more exciting news! After its release, the latest installment is planned to bring back some classic maps in subsequent updates.
Excitedly counting down the days until October 10th, 2025, when I get my hands on Battlefield 6 for PlayStation 5! This highly-anticipated game will include an impressive lineup of nine maps at launch, one of which is a remake of the iconic Operation Firestorm from Battlefield 3. Can’t wait to relive the classic experience and explore the new battlefields that await me in this epic sequel!
Yet, those aren’t the only throwback locations you’ll find in the title; Battlefield Studios intends to incorporate additional iconic battlefields into the game, taking player suggestions and feedback into account.
According to Anna Narrevik, the development director, they are considering releasing classic versions or maps that have been requested by fans or players. (or: They aim to unveil classic versions or maps in response to fan and player requests.)
Narrevik mentions their intention to select the optimal versions, aiming to recreate the enjoyable gaming experiences of the classic Battlefield era.
In passing, game designer Jac Carlsson notes that the Portal level editor mode enables players to develop their unique game concepts and variations. This implies that unofficially updated maps might potentially be recreated by the gaming community.
It appears that they’re not yet ready to guarantee additional map releases for the future, but there’s a strong possibility that the most frequently demanded maps might be incorporated into Battlefield 6 after its release, alongside fresh ones as well.
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel nostalgic when I delve into this fresh title, as it seems to be built upon the solid foundations laid by the legendary Bad Company series. The influence of Bad Company 2, along with its successors 3 and 4, is palpable, making me believe that this game is a loving tribute to the series’ past triumphs.
