Battlefield 6 Will Kick Off its First Season With Covert Operations

EA and Battlefield Studios are planning several updates after the release of the new *Battlefield 6* game. In an email to players, EA revealed that these updates will include something called “covert operations.” So far, though, they haven’t shared any specific details about what these operations will involve, as first noted by Mp1st.

The name suggests a brand new way to play the game, possibly like the cooperative missions found in *Call of Duty*, known as Special Ops. Alternatively, “covert operations” might just be a more elaborate term for the usual daily and weekly challenges players complete to earn rewards.

In addition to secret missions, *Battlefield 6* will receive a variety of new content in its first season, such as new weapons, vehicles, and maps. The company announced, “Your Season One intel is here,” detailing the upcoming additions.

The first season for *Battlefield 6* starts October 28th, introducing the Blackwell Fields map as part of the Rogue Ops update. A new 4-on-4 game mode called Strikepoint will also be available, featuring multiple rounds where players have only one life per round. Two more updates are planned for Season 1: California Resistance on November 18th, and Winter Offensive on December 9th.

Okay, so I’m super hyped for these next two drops! California Resistance is bringing a new map called Eastwood, and we’re getting 8-on-8 Sabotage matches – sounds chaotic! Plus, there’s this new feature with Battle Pickups and a sweet new DB-12 Shotgun to try out. Then, Winter Offensive is totally changing up Empire State! They’re freezing all the water, which is going to make fights totally different. We’re also getting an Ice Climbing Axe for some close-quarters action, and there’s a limited-time event called Ice Lock where this ‘Freeze’ mechanic sounds like it’s going to shake things up. Can’t wait to jump in!

The highly anticipated *Battlefield 6* is launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 10th. Experts predict it could be a turning point for the *Battlefield* series, with some estimating over 5 million copies sold in its first week, according to data from Ampere.

This announcement follows a review of the successful open betas for *Battlefield 6*, which attracted an estimated 22 to 25 million players. This is a significant increase compared to the *Battlefield 2042* beta, which peaked at 5.1 million concurrent players, while the *Battlefield 6* beta reached 10.4 million.
