Now that the open beta tests for *Battlefield 6* are over, the four studios working on the game are continuing to refine it. In a recent interview with Edge Magazine (reported by GamesRadar), creative director Thomas Andersson explained that players will likely be surprised by the game’s classes, even if they participated in the beta tests.
During the interview, Andersson explained that the game’s classes have been adjusted since the open beta testing ended. However, he didn’t share many specifics about what those changes will be when the game launches next month. He stated, “The class system has already moved beyond what’s in open beta.”
Andersson shared a few details about upcoming balance adjustments. He mentioned that players who favor the Assault class will experience some decreased effectiveness in certain areas, but will become more valuable when working as a team. Specifically, the deploy beacon – previously available to the Recon class – is being moved to the Assault class to make it clearer who players should rally to and respawn near.
He explained that they would be the team responsible for infiltrating enemy territory and establishing a base of operations.
The developers of *Battlefield 6* have been openly discussing areas where the game needs adjustments, particularly regarding balance. Earlier this month, producer David Sirland addressed player concerns about infantry being too strong against vehicles, explaining that this was a key balance issue they were working to resolve.
Sirland explained that the issue with vehicles feeling weak isn’t related to a specific problem, but a broader balancing issue the team is already addressing. They prefer to start with vehicles being slightly underpowered rather than overpowered, as players will naturally improve their skills with them over time, making them more effective. It’s a delicate balance to achieve.
EA recently announced playtests for a battle royale mode in *Battlefield 6*. These tests will be conducted through *Battlefield* Labs, and EA shared some details about how the mode will play. Unlike some battle royales, this one will emphasize teamwork, incorporating the class and squad system that’s central to *Battlefield 6*’s overall gameplay.
This new mode for *Battlefield* keeps the series’ core gameplay intact, meaning you’ll still find familiar elements like gadgets, explosives, destructible environments, and vehicles – all used to help your team win, according to the game’s official website.
Battlefield 6 is being developed for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and is coming out on October 10.
