Enthusiasm for Battlefield 6 has soared since the unveiling of its multiplayer mode last week, drawing over 9,000 players simultaneously on Steam to pre-load the beta, even while idling within the menus. Furthermore, fueling anticipation for the upcoming multiplayer shooter, Jeremy Chubb, DICE’s lead multiplayer producer, has disclosed in an interview with PCGamer that Battlefield: Bad Company 2, a fan favorite from the series, significantly influenced the destructible environments found in Battlefield 6.
In the past, the game Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was renowned for its extensive maps that allowed players to demolish buildings and objects. A recurring joke about playing this 2010 shooter was that a determined player could flatten an entire map. However, since then, Battlefield games have reduced the destructibility of their environments, such as in Battlefield 3, Battlefield 5, and Battlefield 2042. But with Battlefield 6, it appears developer DICE is aiming to return to the style of destructible environments found in Bad Company 2.
As a gamer, I can confidently say that if you’re seeking top-notch gaming experiences, Bad Company 2 is where it’s at. In an interview with PCGamer, they pointed out that this game stood out for its level of detail and the immersive destructive feel. The sheer joy of blowing a single wall, watching part of a building crumble, or even bringing down entire structures was unparalleled. It was all-encompassing, and it truly encapsulated the essence of that game like nothing else. Unfortunately, we felt that aspect was lacking in our last game, and we were determined to return to that level of excellence in our latest release.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited about the upcoming Battlefield 6 open beta starting on August 9! Producer Alexia Christofi has given us some juicy details. We can expect over 40 types of weapons to tinker with in this online shooter. She’s also shared insights into how crossplay will function when the game drops. If you’re a console player, even with crossplay enabled, you’ll still be matched with other console gamers. Only if you’re having trouble finding a match, PC players might join the fray.
Christofi has disclosed some information about the server browser coming in Battlefield 6, which can be accessed via the Portals section within its main menu. This server browser enables gamers to search, refine results, and connect to servers where repeat participation by the same players fosters community building. Furthermore, players can maximize their experience with the game’s advancement system by taking advantage of its progression features.
Lately, Electronic Arts (EA) has shared information about the anti-cheat mechanism that will be implemented in Battlefield 6 for PCs. This system, an updated version of EA’s Vanguard Anti-Cheat, requires PC players to activate Secure Boot within their BIOS/UEFI settings. This is done to prevent cheats from functioning at the kernel level, even before the operating system starts up.
Battlefield 6 is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 10.
