With Battlefield 6 launching in just over three weeks, excitement is building. Most players agree that this new installment is a return to form for the series.
A possible issue has come to light: the game won’t allow players on consoles to play with those on other platforms.
The announcement was surprising, especially because just days earlier, lead combat designer Matthew Nickerson explained that turning off crossplay would let PlayStation 5 and Xbox players compete against each other.
Actually, that’s not quite right. EA has explained through Dexerto that turning off crossplay will restrict your gameplay to only those using the same platform as you.
Why does this matter to so many players? Simply put, most don’t want to compete against PC players, who have a natural advantage with mouse aiming.
Another worry is that players on PCs might use cheating software to get an unfair advantage.
The best way to play against other console players would be to turn off crossplay, which would exclude PC players. However, Battlefield 6 won’t allow you to do this, meaning you won’t be able to limit your matches to just PlayStation and Xbox users.
So, what do you guys think about all this? Honestly, I’d *love* to be able to play with my friends on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox – crossplay would be a huge win for me. But if it doesn’t happen, it’s not the end of the world, I guess. Also, don’t forget to tweak your in-game sensitivity settings – let me know what you’re running in the comments!
