Battlefield games in historical order

Want to experience the biggest and best games spanning military history, from World War I through World War II and even into the distant future? We’ve compiled a list focusing on the core titles in each series.

  • Battlefield 1 – 1914
  • Battlefield V – 1940 – 1945
  • Battlefield 1942 – 1942 – 1945
  • Battlefield 1943 – 1943 – 1945
  • Battlefield Vietnam – 1965 – 1975
  • Battlefield 2 – 2007
  • Battlefield: Hardline – 2012 – 2015
  • Battlefield 3 – 2014
  • Battlefield 4 – 2020
  • Battlefield 6 – 2027 – 2028
  • Battlefield 2042 – 2042 – 2049
  • Battlefield 2142 – 2142 – 2145

Although the games sometimes share historical settings, each Battlefield title generally has its own separate timeline. You’ll occasionally find nods to other games in the series, but it’s not as interconnected as a series like Call of Duty.

I’ve always been curious about the timeline of the Bad Company games. It’s neat how they mostly feel like they’re happening right *now*, except for that cool opening in Bad Company 2 which takes place way back in 1944.
