The BBC has declared that they will be making a significant shift in their voting system, as the option for premium-rate phone voting is being discontinued.
Now, it’s worth noting that fans wanting to cast their votes for their preferred TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing can only do so online from now on. The BBC’s Eurovision Song Contest in Basel will be the final significant program that continues to provide premium-rate phone voting.
Previously, viewers could cast their votes by dialing high-cost phone numbers. However, as reported by the BBC, this method is now considered antiquated and costly to maintain.
Many people have preferred online voting for various events, as was evident last year during Strictly Come Dancing, where a significant number of votes were cast through online platforms.

To put it simply, if you’re new to the online voting for shows like Strictly Come Dancing and don’t have a BBC account yet, this could be your chance! The show is coming back on TV in approximately two weeks, so signing up now might be helpful.
Owning an account not only grants you the privilege to vote, but also enhances your BBC iPlayer experience by providing a more customized service. This includes resuming TV shows on different devices, personalized weather forecasts tailored specifically for you, and much more.
If you don’t have an account yet, you can sign up for free on the BBC website.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 20th September.
“Place Strictly Come Dancing onto your watchlist via the TopMob: What to Watch application – a must-have for daily TV suggestions, specials, and additional features.
