BAFTA-winning BBC series Blue Lights is returning for a fourth season with a confirmed cast, including Richard Dormer, known for his roles in Game of Thrones and Fortitude.
Blue Lights offers a glimpse into the work of a police department in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The show follows officers as they handle a wide range of cases – from minor crimes to serious organized criminal activity – and focuses on their efforts to connect with and support the community they serve.
Richard Dormer portrayed Gerry Cliff, a police sergeant who was killed in the first season of the popular and well-received Belfast-based police drama.
Officer Dormer was shot and killed by a local gangster during a regular patrol with his partner, Officer Jen Robinson, who is played by Hannah McClean.
A beloved character, his death and legacy continued to impact the following two seasons.

Richard Dormer is back for the fourth season, which centers around the trial of his character following a murder. The trial will uncover a hidden, dangerous secret, causing trouble for both the police and the criminal world.
The upcoming season will bring back some beloved characters, like Hannah McClean and Jonathan Harden as the former Inspector Jonty. Their appearance in one episode should finally resolve lingering mysteries, including what happened to Gerry.
I’m really excited for season four of Blue Lights! I heard they filmed it all on location in Belfast, which is fantastic. It’s going to be six hour-long episodes, and while they’re aiming for a release sometime later this year, they haven’t given us a specific date just yet. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it arrives soon!
Nick Lambon, a commissioning editor for BBC Drama, said they were thrilled to have Richard Dormer return for the show, as Gerry Cliff was a key part of the first series and the cast is already very strong.
