As a huge fan of The Boys, I’m really excited about Trigger Warning! It looks like a lot of fun and a cool way to experience that world again, mixing VR with the story we all love from the Prime Video show. The Boys has always been such a wild, funny, and surprisingly emotional take on superheroes, and while the main show is ending with season 5, Trigger Warning will let us jump back in for one last adventure before it’s over. It’s based on the original comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, so I have high hopes!
Launching on Meta Quest March 26th, and coming to PSVR2 sometime later, The Boys: Trigger Warning is being created with Sony, the team behind the The Boys TV series. This close collaboration means the game feels like a natural extension of the show, and the trailer offers hints about where it fits within the overall story.
The Boys: Trigger Warning Has Four Stars From The Prime Video Show

In The Boys: Trigger Warning, you play as Lucas Costa, a family man whose life is turned upside down after a run-in with disgraced superheroes, the Armstrongs. Rescued by Butcher and his team, Lucas gains superpowers through Compound-V and sets out to stop Homelander from becoming more powerful and rescue his daughter from the clutches of Vought. The core gameplay revolves around Lucas’s ability to use a variety of powers gained from different types of Compound-V.
The game’s trailer reveals players can use powers like heat vision, telekinesis, and invisibility. It appears heavily inspired by the show it’s based on, even featuring four actors from the series. Laz Alonso returns as M.M., a key member of the Boys, and Jensen Ackles reprises his role as Soldier Boy, a satirical take on Captain America who served as the main villain in season 3. Colby Minifie plays Ashley Barrett, Vought’s public relations manager, and P.J. Byrne returns as Adam Bourke, the film director responsible for creating heroic portrayals of the Seven.
How The Boys: Trigger Warning Seems To Fit Into Canon

With the upcoming fifth season being the last, The Boys: Trigger Warning looks like a fun way for fans to revisit the show’s chaotic universe. However, the trailer suggests this new story won’t happen after season 4. Instead, clues point to it taking place sometime during seasons 3 or 4, or even earlier. The biggest hint is Ashley appearing alongside Homelander – her fate wasn’t fully resolved until the end of season 4, meaning the game’s events likely happen before the finale changed her situation.
With Jensen Ackles joining the cast, it seems likely Soldier Boy will be featured in the game, probably between his release and recapture during seasons 3 and 4 of the show. The fact that the game doesn’t show the super-powered crackdown seen at the end of season 4 suggests it takes place before season 5. Previous trailers showed the Starlighters, a group that emerged in season 4, further supporting this timeline. The game’s plot – involving Lucas infiltrating Vought and spying on the Seven – could explain how the Boys have gathered so much intel on the villains throughout the series. While fans will need to play The Boys: Trigger Warning to know for sure, it’s a potentially smart way to build out the show’s world.
