Bella Hadid is resting up.
The model revealed she’s been prioritizing her health and resting in bed, which is why she missed New York Fashion Week. She shared photos on September 17th that seem to have been taken from a hospital bed.
In the images, Bella is hooked up to IVs, wearing an oxygen mask and seemingly getting a blood transfusion.
“I’m sorry I always go MIA,” she captioned the pics on Instagram, “I love you guys.”
Bella Hadid’s mother, Yolanda Hadid, publicly sent her daughter well wishes and hinted that Bella’s current health issues are related to her ongoing struggle with Lyme disease, writing “Lyme warrior” with a heart emoji.
Her sister, Gigi Hadid, also expressed her affection, writing, “I love you! I hope you feel as strong and good as you deserve, soon!!!!!!”
I’ve been following her story for years, and it breaks my heart to think about everything she’s gone through. She was diagnosed with this tick-borne illness – it’s really scary because the CDC says it can become a long-term, serious health problem if you don’t get treated quickly. She’s been so brave about sharing how it’s impacted her life over the past decade, and I really admire her for it.
In a 2023 Instagram post, she shared that she was over 100 days into treatment and incredibly proud of how far she’d come. She explained that trying to live up to expectations – for herself, her family, and her supporters – while also battling worsening health had been deeply challenging. It was a confusing experience, she wrote, to feel so sad and unwell despite having so much love, privilege, and opportunity in her life.
Bella shared, “Life can be both incredibly difficult and wonderfully amazing, but please remember that things *will* improve if you’re going through a hard time. I truly believe that. Take some time for yourself, stay resilient, trust in where you’re headed, and be true to yourself-you’ll start to see brighter days.”

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in *12 Years a Slave*, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids-non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus-in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.
She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.
She explained that growing up, many girls are told that periods are supposed to be painful, and that this pain is just something women have to deal with. This often leaves people feeling like they’re dealing with a difficult and common experience all on their own.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I was shocked to learn that back in February 2025, I was involved in a really scary accident. In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a gun unsafely. Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney quickly helped, checked her over, and got her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye, coming within an inch of a direct hit.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE what happened to Christy Carlson Romano! She said a tiny piece of something got stuck behind her eye, and the doctors are saying it’s too dangerous to try and take it out right now. She’s still able to see perfectly, thankfully, but they’re going to keep a really close eye on her – literally! I’m so worried about her, but glad she can still see! It’s just… so *Kim Possible* of her to handle something crazy like this with grace, you know?

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often negative side, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier,” Schumer was surprised to see doctors commenting on her appearance online, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. They pointed out changes in her face that concerned them. This prompted Schumer to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section, which led to the condition. She wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. Thankfully, doctors determined her case of Cushing syndrome would resolve on its own, and she’s now relieved to be healthy.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, struggling to speak and noticing her face drooping. Though the symptoms eventually passed, she went to the hospital for testing. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA, or transient ischemic attack. Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the hole in her heart and is now recovering well.
The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus attacks nerves in the ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it was becoming increasingly difficult to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on *Good Morning America* that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary and random, but assuring everyone he would be okay and was grateful he was on the mend.

In his 2024 Netflix special, *What Had Happened Was…*, he explained that he was suffering from a severe headache when he suddenly lost consciousness. He doesn’t remember the next twenty days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.
After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for extensive rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

Let me tell you, I was seriously unwell. I ended up finding out I had rhabdomyolysis, which is basically your body’s emergency stop button. It’s a sign your body is desperately trying to tell you something is very wrong.
Emilia Clarke, known for her role in *Game of Thrones*, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for *The New Yorker*. While filming the show, she experienced a severe headache at the gym, which quickly escalated. She described becoming violently ill and realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.
A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she struggled with aphasia, leaving her unable to speak coherently.
Though she initially recovered and was discharged from the hospital after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure was unsuccessful, leading to a major bleed and a precarious situation. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia reports that she has now made a full recovery and is at 100%.

In a September 2024 podcast interview, she described a time when she was losing her hearing, couldn’t walk for more than a few minutes without needing to rest for hours, and experienced constant stomach pain. She faced conflicting diagnoses from different doctors, and ultimately decided to take a holistic approach to finding answers, combining traditional medical advice with alternative healing methods.
This health journey lasted for ten years and led to deeper issues, including fear of food and struggles with body image, identity, and feeling comfortable in her own body.
