Netflix announced the premiere date for its new version of the beloved show Little House on the Prairie, and also revealed plans for the show’s continuation.
The new version of Little House on the Prairie, like the classic story, is inspired by Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books. However, it’s been updated and reimagined for modern viewers.
The show blends a heartwarming family story with an exciting adventure about surviving in the American West, while also revealing how the frontier was built. It promises a broad and compelling look at the challenges and successes of the people who forged a new life there.
Little House on the Prairie will release on Netflix on 9 July.
So, not only did they finally announce when we can expect the show to drop, but they also gave us a sneak peek image – check it out above! And get this – they’re already confident enough in it to give it a second season! As a movie and TV fan, that’s always great news!
Alice Halsey stars as Laura Ingalls, with Skywalker Hughes playing her sister Mary. Luke Bracey plays their father, Charles Ingalls (Pa), and Crosby Fitzgerald plays their mother, Caroline Ingalls (Ma).
Rebecca Sonnenshine, who worked on ‘The Boys’, is adapting the new series and will also be overseeing it as showrunner.

Sonnenshine will be an executive producer, along with Trip Friendly – whose father, Ed Friendly, produced the original show – Joy Gorman Wettels (known for ’13 Reasons Why’), Dana Fox (‘Wicked’), and Susanna Fogel (‘A Small Light’).
In a statement, Sonnenshine expressed deep gratitude for the dedication and effort of the cast and crew, who brought our first season to life.
We’re excited to bring a fresh take on the ‘Little House’ books to viewers, and we’re happy Netflix is partnering with us to continue the beloved story.
Netflix is excited to bring back ‘Little House on the Prairie’ for a second season, even before the first season has premiered on the streaming service,” said Jinny Howe, who leads Netflix’s scripted series in the US and Canada.
Rebecca Sonnenshine and everyone involved in Season 1 did an amazing job, creating a strong and lasting story for the future. We believe the show’s heartwarming and genuine nature will continue to give viewers exactly what they’re hoping for.
Little House on the Prairie will premiere on Netflix on 9 July 2026.
