Beloved Adult Swim Series Arrives on New Streaming Service After Leaving HBO Max

Lately, Warner Bros Discovery has undergone some transformations, and HBO Max is one of the platforms that’s seen significant changes in its content library. Recently, cherished Cartoon Network shows like “Teen Titans,” “The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy,” and “Ed, Edd n’ Eddy” were taken off Warner Bros’ streaming service. Sadly, Adult Swim also experienced the loss of some popular shows from HBO Max, with series such as “The Shivering Truth,” “The Venture Bros,” and “Squidbillies” leaving the platform. However, it appears that one major Adult Swim show has been given another chance on a different streaming service, as reported by the series creator.

One of Adult Swim’s most successful original shows, Metalocalypse, is now accessible for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The announcement was made by the show’s creator Brendon Small, who has stated that the series has concluded, but continues to perform Dethklok’s heavy metal repertoire in live concerts around the country. All four seasons are available on Amazon, however, the recent series finale, Metalocalypse: Army of The Doomstar, can only be found on HBO Max. This means that viewers will need to switch between streaming services to watch the entire Dethklok storyline.

Dethklok’s Origin

The animated series “Metalocalypse” made its debut in 2006, born from the minds of creators Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha. It delved into the darkly humorous tale of Dethklok, a death metal band that dominated the globe through their music. Not only did they create songs that continue to amuse us today, but their influence extended beyond the realm of entertainment, leading them into confrontations with various world governments and clandestine groups seeking either to end their reign or exploit it for personal gain. Small has expressed his past dissatisfaction over the Adult Swim series‘ termination, but found solace in the final film that wrapped up Dethklok’s storyline.

In the animated show “Metalocalypse: Army of The Doomstar,” every member of Dethklok managed to survive and found what could be considered the best possible outcome. This suggests that we might not witness Nathan Explosion and his band making a comeback in the near future. Fortunately, despite the absence of an animated series, Small has been actively reviving the band’s music through live concerts over the past few years, so let’s hope he keeps this up in the future as well.

Although Metalocalypse concluded its narrative, Adult Swim continues to thrive on Cartoon Network. It’s unlikely that anything will ever fill the void left by Dethklok, but Adult Swim has experienced great success with shows like Rick and Morty and The Smiling Friends, among others. Here’s hoping animation fans will continue to enjoy a vibrant future with Adult Swim!
