Ben Affleck’s latest father-son activity was a slam dunk.
Last night, the star from the Justice League spent his evening at the Crypto.com Arena, joining his ex-wife Jennifer Garner and their 12-year-old son Samuel, as they watched the Los Angeles Lakers battle it out with the Golden State Warriors.
On February 6th, Ben’s youngest kid wore a white Lakers jersey over a black-and-white tracksuit, whereas his father dressed in a beige turtleneck and coordinating coat for the event.
It appears that NBA games provide an excellent opportunity for Affleck and Garner, along with their children Violet (18) and Seraphina (15), to spend quality time with Sam. Notably, they’ve both been spotted attending Lakers games together in the stadium.
More recently, the Oscar-winning individual accompanied him to watch the Los Angeles team defeat the Toronto Raptors in November. Earlier, the actress from the movie “13 Going On 30” was spotted rooting for the Golden State Warriors during their game versus the Lakers, along with a child, in March 2023.
Regardless of Ben Affleck’s divorce from Jennifer Lopez, who has twins Emme and Max (aged 16, shared with ex-husband Marc Anthony), Affleck, at the age of 52, has consistently made an effort to be present for all his children.
Indeed, Affleck, Garner, and Lopez went to watch Emme and Seraphina’s play prior to the winter holidays in December.
As for the actor who played the lead in “Good Will Hunting,” prioritizing his role as a present father has been of great importance, particularly considering his intricate bond with his own father, Timothy Byers Affleck.
In an interview with WSJ. Magazine in December 2021, he emphasized the significance of having two parents in raising and nurturing a child. For him, being a good parent is crucial. He believes boys should be guided on how to act, how to carry themselves, and what values they should uphold. The impactful ways his father instilled these qualities in him, as well as the times he was not present, hold great importance.
He emphasized the significance of a father’s presence, stating, “During my teenage years as I was transitioning into adulthood, I found myself searching for a role model. The absence of that guidance left me feeling lost and afraid. So, in a sense, we stumble through life to find our way towards maturity.
As he put it, “You need a father for positive reinforcement.”
And Affleck couldn’t have asked for a better family as he navigated fatherhood.
In an interview with People in February 2020, he shared that children are remarkably adaptable. They value honesty. If you’re truthful and transparent with them, they can easily forgive mistakes and shortcomings, and they desire to love and respect you. That is my philosophy as a father.
I understand that it’s a learning process, as a dedicated parent. It’s important to remember that perfection isn’t the goal, but giving my best is. I’ll make mistakes along the way, but I’m willing to learn from them and grow. I’ll strive to do what’s right most of the time, but when I slip up, I’ll own it and keep moving forward. I trust that my children are understanding and appreciate the honesty and love in my actions.
