So far this year, Bend Studio has faced some challenges, such as the cancellation of its live service and rumors about layoffs affecting about a third of their staff. Despite these difficulties, they’re staying active and a new position for a Creative Director has been posted on Sony Interactive Entertainment’s job site. This role requires experience in a senior creative leadership position on at least one successful AAA or high-profile game.
This job posting appears to hint at a high-budget project, yet what truly piques curiosity is the demand for expertise in “development and design of multiplayer games.” Although this might raise some concerns, particularly regarding Sony’s usual management of live-service projects, it could simply be about cooperative play. Only time will reveal the truth, so keep an eye out for updates.
It’s still uncertain whether the project in question is a pre-existing one or something entirely new. Last July, ex-game designer Jacob Feith mentioned several potential projects that were either cancelled or yet to be announced on his LinkedIn profile. However, it remains unclear how many of these unannounced projects are currently under active development.
The latest endeavor from Bend Studio, unveiled in April 2025 for the PlayStation 5, was a remastered version of Days Gone. Our review is worth checking out. Furthermore, extra content titled Broken Road will be made available as DLC for PC users as well.
