After playing in theaters for two months, the comedy film The Roses, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman, will now be available to stream.
The movie, released in theaters in August, will be streaming on Disney Plus starting December 3rd, so fans won’t have to wait much longer.
The Roses is a bold and dramatic update of the 1989 film, The War of the Roses, which was originally inspired by Warren Adler’s novel.
The show featured Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman as Ivy and Theo, a couple who seemed to have it all – successful careers and a happy life.
Their relationship quickly falls apart when Theo’s career fails while Ivy’s begins to flourish, creating a situation some have called a disastrous real-life unraveling.
Jay Roach directs this hilarious film, and he’s assembled a truly incredible cast! Seriously, you’ve got Andy Samberg, the brilliant Ncuti Gatwa, comedy queen Kate McKinnon, Zoë Chao, the wonderful Hala Finley, and Jamie Demetriou and Sunita Mani rounding things out. It’s a seriously stacked lineup that really delivers.

The film has generally earned positive reviews from critics. The Hollywood Reporter praised the performances of Cumberbatch and Coleman, and Rotten Tomatoes reports a 65% approval rating based on 187 reviews.
We rated the movie three out of five stars. While enjoyable, it lacked a strong impact, and the actors didn’t quite capture the growing sense of resentment that develops throughout the story.
This darkly funny satire will be available on the streaming service just in time for the holidays.
