This year’s World of Tanks Holiday Ops (2026) will feature a special guest: Benedict Cumberbatch! Forget Santa delivering gifts – get ready for a unique holiday experience with a familiar face in your garage.
Benedict Cumberbatch, known for his roles in Sherlock and Doctor Strange, will offer players unique missions. Completing these missions will unlock special in-game items, including a tank commander with voice lines recorded by Cumberbatch himself.
Benedict Cumberbatch is the latest actor to participate in the annual Holiday Ops event, following in the footsteps of stars like Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Vinnie Jones, and Milla Jovovich who have appeared in previous years.
Benedict Cumberbatch expressed his excitement about participating in World of Tanks’ Holiday Ops event this year.
He explained that the game focuses on smart planning, working together, and anticipating your opponent’s moves. He was happy to work with the development team and add something fresh and cheerful to the game world, and he wishes all players a happy holiday season.
If anyone questions the time you spend playing World of Tanks, you can jokingly tell them that even the famous Benedict wished you a Merry Christmas. It’s a much more interesting holiday greeting than the generic, AI-created cards some companies send out.
To celebrate the arrival of the ‘Cumberbatch combined arms’ update, the World of Tanks team released a new Holiday Ops short film. The film centers around Sebastian, a quiet office worker, who turns to his therapist – portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch – for advice.
Holiday Ops 2026 starts on December 5th, 2025, and lasts until January 12th, 2026. That gives you lots of time to earn all the rewards! We’ve gotten so used to seeing Benedict in the holiday garage, though, that we’ll definitely miss him when the event ends.
