Benedict Cumberbatch appears to have mastered the art of keeping secret any details about Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming film, “Avengers: Doomsday.

What did Benedict Cumberbatch say about Avengers: Doomsday?

In a recent conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Benedict Cumberbatch, when asked if he might be featured in Avengers: Doomsday, hinted cryptically, repeatedly chuckling and stating “I wonder” instead of giving a direct answer.

After initially suggesting that his character Doctor Strange might not feature in the movie Doomsday at all, Cumberbatch later clarified his comments to Variety, stating that while Doctor Strange wasn’t part of this particular storyline, he would reappear in the Avengers movie slated for 2027, titled Avengers: Secret Wars.

Initially, Cumberbatch appeared to suggest that he wouldn’t be part of Doomsday. However, a week later, during an interview with Business Insider, he clarified his previous statement and confirmed that he would indeed feature in the movie. Yet, it’s important to note that his role hasn’t been officially verified for Doomsday as of yet, so whether Dr. Strange will actually appear in the film is still uncertain.

The film “Avengers: Doomsday” will be shown in U.S. theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The next Avengers film, titled “Avengers: Secret Wars,” is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027. Before these two movies, there will be a new Spider-Man film called “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” that premieres on July 31, 2026.
