Benito Skinner and Terrence O’Connor have parted ways.
Benny Drama, the online personality famous for his celebrity impressions, has announced his separation from Terrence after nine years. They’ve stated the split was friendly and they remain friends.
Honestly, listening to Benito talk about it on his podcast, it was just so clear how deeply he and his partner cared for each other. He said they had incredible love and respect, and that they continued to treat each other that way right up until the very end. It was really touching to hear him express that.
The 31-year-old shared that he’s often heard fans say they’d lose faith in romance if he and his partner split up.
Benito said, “If our breakup makes you lose faith in love, it should actually prove the opposite. I shared nine years with someone incredibly special – a committed relationship with my best friend.”
The podcast host shared that the ex-couple had a strong, supportive relationship and really came of age together, particularly since Benito spent his entire twenties with Terrence.
He shared how incredibly fortunate he feels to have met his partner and become part of his family, expressing a real fondness for everyone, especially the cousins. He hopes people believe in love, as he’s experienced it deeply and feels lucky to be around someone so special. He affectionately referred to his partner as a lifelong friend and ‘Grandpa Terry’.
Oh my gosh, you guys, did you hear what happened? Apparently, when I met Terrence, I made him promise he’d never date anyone younger than Benito! I was so worried, and I was cracking up as I made him swear, like, we literally ‘spit-shook’ on it – you know, a pinky swear but, like, really serious! It was the most amazing thing ever, honestly. I just adore them both!
Benito then added, more seriously, that he and the other person involved would appreciate some privacy and respect.
He didn’t explain why they broke up, but he emphasized that they still care about each other and genuinely want the best for one another. He expressed his support for his ex’s future success.
Benito’s podcast cohost, Mary Beth Barone, was really happy with how smoothly he and his partner ended their relationship. She told him she cared for them both deeply and appreciated that they were able to separate amicably, saying it felt like she could continue to support them both happily.
Terrence, the photographer, hasn’t commented publicly on the split, but he did recently share a memory of first meeting Benito at a party back in 2016.
Terrence told Nylon magazine in April that he had a moment, similar to something from the show That’s So Raven, where he instantly knew he was going to marry his partner.
When Benito shared his dream of becoming an actor, Terrence was immediately supportive. Although he wasn’t sure how to help with an acting career, he suggested they could try building Benito a following on Instagram.
