Bergerac season 2 first look teases “most challenging” case yet as release window also confirmed

The latest trailer offers fans a sneak peek at season two of Bergerac, and we now know when it will be released.

As a huge fan of the original, I’m so excited to hear that the new take on ‘Bergerac’ is coming back! Apparently, Damien Molony will be reprising his role as Jim, and they’re saying this next season will be his toughest case yet. Mark your calendars – it’s scheduled to hit U and U&DRAMA in spring 2026!

Season two of Bergerac will continue the story, picking up after Jim dealt with the loss of his wife and tried to rebuild his life.

The new trailer suggests the detective still faces many challenges. Jim is investigating a fresh case that begins with disruption at a New Jersey wedding, all while also trying to build a new romance with Nicola (Camilla Beeput).

Just after meeting Nicola, Bergerac finds himself investigating a new murder: the groom at a wedding has been found dead in his hotel room, according to the official plot summary.

The message went on to ask if the groom’s last words might reveal who killed him, and requested that the best detective in Jersey begin investigating.

Season two of Bergerac will feature Lesley Sharp, Charles Dale, Turlough Convery, Georgina Rich, and Jonathan Aris, joining returning cast members Molony and Beeput.

Molony shared that John Nettles, the original star of Bergerac, offered him supportive feedback about the show’s revival.

I met with Molony last week over lunch, and honestly, he was a delight. He was really complimentary about the first episode, which was lovely to hear.

He ended our lunch by saying that Bergerac had been great for his career and he hoped it would be the same for me. I thought that was a really kind thing to say, and it showed what a genuinely good person he is.
