Season 10 of New World: Aeternum significantly altered the game’s balance, introducing several overpowered builds and resulting in exceptionally high damage output.
Okay, so the new season is amazing for damage! Seriously, I’m already blowing up enemies with way more power thanks to the new Perks and some tweaks to the gear. If you’re like me and love seeing those huge damage numbers pop up, you’re gonna have a blast this season!
This guide will walk you through what we think is one of the strongest damage-dealing builds available right now.
Best Broken DPS Build in Season 10 | New World: Aeternum
Weapon Combination – Hatchet + Fire Staff
Okay, so for this character build, I’m going all-in on the Hatchet – it’s my main weapon. But to really boost my damage, I’m also using the Fire Staff, specifically to unlock the Inferno Artifact. We’ll dive deeper into the gear setup and how it all works together in a bit.
Let’s move on to Attributes! The Hatchet benefits equally from both Strength (STR) and Dexterity (DEX). Here’s a suggested distribution of points to help you deal the most damage:
- STR – 215
- DEX – 260
- INT – 5
- FOC – 5
- CON – 50
This combination works best when used with the Banana Bread item. It will boost your Strength by 40, which increases your damage and helps you reach a key stat threshold. Plus, it will balance out your Strength and Dexterity, giving you a perfect 50/50 split between the two!
For this build, you can primarily focus on the Hatchet skill tree. The image above shows our suggested skill setup.
The best attack to use in combat will be Rending Throw. It deals solid damage and is ready to use again quickly. What makes it truly powerful, though, is that it weakens enemies with a ‘Rend’ effect for 10 seconds, reducing their defenses and making them more vulnerable to your attacks!
Ideally, you want to activate Berserk right at the start of a fight to get its benefits. After that, use Rending Throw, and then combine light attacks with Raging Torrent to deal damage.
When it comes to the Fire Staff, you don’t need to bother with its Skill Tree at all. It’s only useful for the passive bonus you get from the Inferno perk – you won’t actually be casting spells with it.
With that done, let’s look at what type of gear you want for this build.
Gear Recommendations
Weapons and Heartrune
If you’re looking for a powerful weapon, the Inferno Fire Staff is the one to get. You can earn this top-tier Artifact by completing the Empyrean Forge Mutated Expedition in the Great Cleave.
The Inferno stands out because of its special ability, Inner Power. This perk automatically boosts your damage by 15% whenever you’re within 15 meters of an enemy, and it even works with your Hatchet!
This gives you a consistent 15% damage increase, almost always active. It’s a significant benefit, and all you need is the Inferno weapon to get it.
When choosing a Hatchet, almost any Legendary Tier version will work well. We recommend looking for one with two sockets for Offense Charms and one Gem socket, as this will help you deal the most damage.
Finally, we suggest the Phantom Blades for your Heartrune. They deliver a significant amount of damage quickly, which is perfect for maximizing the damage output of this build.
Other Artifacts and Gear
The most important piece of equipment to aim for is the Nimble Coat Artifact. You can find this chest piece randomly within the PvP Rewards Track.
Its special ability, Highly Refreshing, might seem small – it just lowers your maximum cooldowns by 8%. However, because this game is often about using your Rending Throw repeatedly, it’s actually a significant advantage!
Generally, you don’t need to worry too much about specific Artifacts. You can use whatever you prefer, but it’s best to prioritize items that keep your overall weight low.
We highly recommend trying to obtain the Old Crown Artifact if you can. It sometimes appears as a random reward on the PVP Rewards Track, and it significantly boosts your character by increasing all attributes by 6.
In the end, the Perks and Gems you choose will have the biggest impact. Let’s dive into what those are and how they work!
Perks and Gems
We’ll primarily focus on Perks and Gems that boost your damage output. This means the most valuable bonuses will be those that directly increase damage or shorten the time between attacks.
Here’s a guide to the best Perks and Gems to use in your build, listed from most important to least important.
- Keen Berserk II – 1 Stack, ideally on armor.
- Compounding Torrent II – 1 Stack, ideally on your Hatchet.
- Slash Harnessing II – As many stacks as possible.
- Sacrificial Empowerment II – At least 2 Stacks, ideally all 5.
- Prolonged Favor II – At least 3 Stacks, ideally all 5. However, Sacrificial Empowerment II is more important if you’re limited.
- Skilled Enchantment II – As many stacks as possible.
- Keenly Jagged II – 1 Stack on upgraded Inferno.
- Keenly Empowered – 1 Stack on upgraded Inferno.
- Keenly Fortified II – 1 Stack.
- Shirking Fortification II – As many stacks as possible.
- Enchanted Ward II – 5 Stacks.
- Refreshment II – 1 Stack on Earrings.
- Nimble II – 1 Stack on Earrings.
- End II – 1 Stack on Hatchet.
- Penetrating IV – 1 Stack on Hatchet.
- Elemental Ward IV – 1 Stack on Amulet.
- Slash Damage II – 1 Stack on Ring.
That covers everything you need to create a top-performing broken DPS build for New World: Aeternum Season 10. Getting all the necessary perks will take effort, but the results will be well worth it!
Looking for another way to play? We’ve also got a powerful, one-shot build focused around bows! It doesn’t have as much staying power or consistent damage, but it can deal a massive amount of damage in a single attack.
