This captivating piece delves into the hidden truths lurking within a seemingly ordinary Zambian family of the middle class. The shocking revelation of an uncle’s untimely demise unexpectedly unearths these long-buried secrets, leaving the family – and the audience – in a state of suspenseful intrigue.

Although many family members want to observe a conventional mourning period for him, some younger relatives disclose that the deceased had historically abused them when they were children, causing a painful rift within the family.

Release date: Friday 13th December in cinemas

In the role of the main character, Daniel Craig stars in Luca Guadagnino’s film adaptation of William S. Burroughs’ novella, titled after itself. The story unfolds against the backdrop of Mexico City during the 1950s and follows a protagonist named William Lee – a character who serves as a stand-in for Burroughs himself.

The movie traces his journey through various city nightspots where he develops an intense crush on a young man (Drew Starkey), fresh out of the U.S. Navy. Afterward, they go on a journey together, causing the plot to abruptly shift towards the absurd and dreamlike.

Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim

In this adaptation of the Lord of the Rings universe, the story unfolds 183 years prior to the renowned trilogy, focusing on Helm Hammerhand and his daughter Héra – a character who was previously unnamed in J.R.R. Tolkien’s appendices.

In this version, Brian Cox, Gaia Wise, Luke Pasqualino, and Miranda Otto are among the voice actors in the production; moreover, it includes archival recordings of the late Christopher Lee, who momentarily revives his character, Saruman.

Kraven the Hunter

In the newest addition to Sony’s Spider-Man universe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson takes on the role of our main antagonist. Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott, and Russell Crowe are also part of the cast in various significant roles.

As per the summary, it delves into Kraven’s intricate bond with his father, a connection that fuels his quest for revenge and drives him towards becoming the most formidable and dreaded hunter in existence.

Mufasa: The Lion King

This movie is directed by Barry Jenkins of Moonlight fame, offering viewers a unique blend of events preceding and following those seen in the 2019 live-action/CGI adaptation of The Lion King, serving as both a prequel and sequel to that iconic production.

Rafiki the mandrill narrates to Kiara, Mufasa and Simba’s granddaughter, the backstory of her fathers, the lions Mufasa and Taka.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Release date: Saturday 21st December in cinemas

In the newest Sonic adventure, Jim Carrey reprises his role as Dr. Robotnik, alongside Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. This time, they encounter a new adversary named Shadow, whose voice is provided by the talented Keanu Reeves.

To save the planet from a looming threat, the brave threesome must join forces with the unconventional ally, Robotnik. Here’s hoping they can rise to the occasion!

Better Man
