Bethenny Frankel Contracts Bacterial Infection on Face in St. Barths

Here’s the skinny on Bethenny Frankel‘s latest vacation.

Former Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel shared a very close-up and honest photo of a skin rash she developed while on a New Year’s trip with her daughter, Bryn Hoppy, 15. She shares Bryn with her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy.

Bethenny Frankel shared a humorous TikTok post on January 5th, playfully claiming she’s “allergic to St. Barths” after cutting her trip short and returning home with a bacterial infection.

The 55-year-old wasn’t just battling a skin breakout on her vacation. She joked on Instagram that St. Barths felt like “the Hunger Games of holiday socializing” because so many celebrities were there for the New Year, making for a competitive social scene.

You know, even with everything going on, I made sure to prioritize what truly matters. I carved out some really special time with my closest friends and, of course, with my daughter, Bryn. Ringing in the new year with them, surrounded by positive energy, felt incredibly genuine and meaningful – exactly how I wanted to start the year.

The Skinnygirl founder rang in the new year with a group of well-known friends. Photos from her vacation show her celebrating with Glen Powell, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, and Alix Earle.

Bethenny shared that this trip reaffirmed a simple truth she often realizes: the people you share experiences with matter more than the experiences themselves. She added that true happiness isn’t found in fancy locations or elaborate plans, but comes from an internal sense of peace.

That’s why she believes Alix shouldn’t worry about what people are saying online, especially after she was seen looking affectionate with Tom Brady at a New Year’s Eve party in St. Barths.

Bethenny questioned why people shouldn’t be able to make their own choices, stating, “They’re adults who both agree, so what’s the problem?” In a TikTok posted on January 5th, she added, “Life is too short to not do what makes you happy and live the way you want.”

She added, “And everyone can f–k off.”

Former Total Bellas star revealed that one of her breast implants moved after being hit in the chest by Piper Niven during a wrestling match in July 2025.

She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, that they would get the issue resolved eventually. She explained to the doctor that as soon as she finished her current commitments – implying after her divorce was finalized – she would return to address the problem and ensure everything looked its best, because she anticipated future activity and didn’t want things to appear neglected.

I was so saddened to learn that Lupita Nyong’o was diagnosed with uterine fibroids back in 2014. It’s tough to think about her dealing with that while also achieving such incredible success – she actually won an Oscar that same year for her amazing work in 12 Years a Slave! Uterine fibroids are these non-cancerous growths that can develop in or around the uterus, and it’s just a reminder that even those who seem to have it all can face health challenges.

She didn’t reveal her diagnosis until 2025, when she shared on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with it for over ten years.

She explained that many girls are taught to accept period pain as a normal part of being a woman. This often leaves them dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she’d been hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap in her abdominal muscles.

Someone messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter) asking why she hadn’t posted recently. Suki jokingly replied that she’d been hiding a serious injury – a hernia caused by wearing extremely tight pants six months ago – and was afraid to mention it.

The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery because his appendix was close to rupturing.

Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He explained he had a perforated appendix – it hadn’t fully burst, but was very close to it.

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

During a soccer game against the Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle, a midfielder from Racing Louisville collapsed after only a few minutes of play.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player sat down on the field with a teammate for support, and then quickly collapsed. Trainers were called to assess her condition.

After receiving initial treatment from medical staff at the game, Savannah was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests. League officials reported she was in stable condition and fully conscious.

Adam Devine revealed that he still feels the effects of injuries he suffered as a child when he was hit by a cement truck at age 11.

“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I’ve been experiencing spasms all over my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation—within the last year, actually.”

He acknowledged that pain is temporary, explaining that his body has some minor imperfections and isn’t working perfectly.

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital because of severe back pain. He said he was in so much pain he had to crawl on his hands and knees, and the pain got worse during a road trip with a friend.

He described a persistent tingling sensation, saying, ‘Even now, bringing my knees to my chest, it still feels tingly, which is really strange.’ He explained that just a few weeks or a month ago, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a basic squat or stand on one leg without falling. He compared the feeling to having had a stroke.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter, from The Real Housewives of Orange County, revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

The comedian later posted on social media to explain he’d actually gotten food poisoning and was starting to feel better.

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting when the incident occurred.

In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a gun unsafely. Brendan Rooney quickly helped her, checked her injuries, and drove her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye, coming within an inch of a direct hit.

The former Kim Possible star explained that a small piece of something is stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, but they will keep monitoring the situation. Fortunately, their vision is currently normal.

The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. She shared her deep love for her daughters, husband, family, and friends, explaining that she realized how precious life is. “Seeing my life pass before me really made me understand that you should cherish every moment and hug the people you care about,” she said. “Things can change so quickly.”

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, surprisingly, after it helped her discover a health issue. After doing press, people noticed her “puffier” face, and she initially brushed it off. However, doctors began commenting online, expressing concern that she might have Cushing syndrome, possibly due to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Amy to realize she had been receiving steroid injections for her breast reduction and C-section scars. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, and she’s relieved to be healthy. As she shared, getting this diagnosis and knowing she would be okay was fantastic news.

During a game in December 2024, an AHL player was accidentally cut by another player’s skate and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and I wouldn’t want any parent to go through that.”

As a wellness advocate, I’m always sharing ways to prioritize your health, and I want to share something deeply personal. Last year, while having breakfast with my husband, Justin, I experienced the scariest moment of my life. I suddenly couldn’t speak, and the right side of my face started to droop. It was incredibly frightening! Thankfully, it passed, but I immediately went to the hospital to get checked out. Doctors discovered I’d had a very small blood clot travel to my brain, which they identified as a TIA, or transient ischemic attack. Further testing at UCLA revealed I have a small hole in my heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). Essentially, the clot had traveled through that hole and caused the TIA. I underwent a procedure to close the PFO, and I’m so happy to say I’m feeling fantastic now. This experience really reinforced the importance of listening to your body and seeking medical attention when something feels off.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on one side. He also shared it was becoming increasingly difficult to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary and random, but expressing gratitude that he was going to be okay.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the serious health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had previously kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could take aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.

After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed deep gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star said she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC competition show.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, everything went dark, but then she saw light again, leading her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where your body essentially starts to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, bravely battled a life-threatening medical condition. In a 2019 essay for The New Yorker, she described a terrifying experience she had at the gym, where a severe headache quickly escalated into debilitating pain and vomiting. She soon realized something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a type of stroke caused by bleeding around the brain, triggered by a ruptured aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak clearly.

Though the aphasia eventually passed and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This surgery was unsuccessful, leading to a massive bleed and a dire prognosis. Doctors had to perform a more invasive procedure, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia has made a full recovery and is now, thankfully, at 100

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, recently shared her gratitude for her family’s support after she experienced a stroke in January 2024. She immediately contacted them, sending a text message and a picture, and they quickly came to her aid, as she told Will Marfuggi of TopMob News in December 2024. Her hospital stay ended up being longer than expected due to existing health concerns – she was also dealing with lupus and kidney issues. Cori is now recovering well, saying she’s feeling great and has been working to regain some motor skills. Overall, she’s doing much better and is thankful for the support she received.

Shailene Woodley’s early 20s were not an easy time health-wise.

“It got to the point where I was losing my hearing. I couldn’t walk for longer than five minutes at a time without having to lay down for hours, and hours and sleep. Everything I ate hurt my stomach,” the actress said on a September 2024 episode of the SHE MD Podcast. “It was this conflation of issues and diagnoses and different doctors telling me different things.”

So Shailene—who chose to keep the exact condition private—set out to find answers.

“I come from a very holistic background and study herbalism,” she added. “So I was very keen on, ‘I’m going to work with real MDs, [and] I’m also going to work with independent kind of healers.’ Just trying to search for some sense of comfort in my own skin.”

It was a long journey—one that lasted for 10 years.

“Throughout that decade, a lot of other things came from feeling so much discomfort physically,” the Big Little Lies star noted, “which was, ‘My gosh, if everything I eat hurts my stomach, I’m now suddenly afraid of food.’ And then going into the kind of mental f–ckery that can happen with that of body dysmorphia and confusion about identity and feeling safe in my own capsule, in my own skin, what that meant, and what that should be.”

After tending to both her physical and mental health, Shailene is feeling much better.

“It was a journey that ultimately physically resolved itself, and I am very healthy,” she shared. “I’m so happy to be able to say that.”
