Bethesda Gives Update on Release Plans for The Elder Scrolls 6

Bethesda has given a brief update on the development of The Elder Scrolls 6. The game has been the main project for Bethesda Game Studios ever since Starfield launched in 2023. With three years having passed, some fans hoped to hear more about The Elder Scrolls 6 soon, especially since it was first announced in 2018. However, it doesn’t seem like a reveal is happening in the immediate future.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard recently stated that while The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced eight years ago, there’s no immediate pressure to release it. He explained this is partly because players are still actively enjoying Bethesda’s older games. Unfortunately, this suggests the game is likely still several years away from release. However, there is a positive side to this news.

Good News for The Elder Scrolls 6 Fans

Given the lengthy development time for The Elder Scrolls 6 and the lukewarm reception to Starfield, it’s understandable that Bethesda Game Studios would be highly motivated to release The Elder Scrolls 6 quickly. While Todd Howard’s statements might be standard PR, his positive outlook is reassuring. A rushed release would likely harm the game’s quality, and it’s good to hear that Bethesda seems to be prioritizing quality over speed.

The biggest disappointment with The Elder Scrolls 6 wouldn’t be the wait itself, but if the final game doesn’t live up to expectations. Rushing the game would likely mean a buggy and poorly optimized launch – the least fans would accept after such a long development. Bethesda should really take their time. It’s been 15 years since Skyrim came out, so a few extra years of development at this point won’t make much difference.
