Beyond Good & Evil 2 Director Passes Comment on Ubisoft’s Major Reshuffle

Early in 2026, Ubisoft made major changes to how the company operates. They reorganized their studios into specialized groups and put several projects on hold or pushed back their release dates.

Many were surprised to learn that Beyond Good & Evil 2 hasn’t been cancelled. Considering its long and troubled development, some expected it would be put on hold, but development is still ongoing.

Fawzi Mesmar, the creative director for the project, has shared his thoughts on Ubisoft’s current situation in a LinkedIn post.

I want to thank everyone who has contacted me recently about the news concerning Ubisoft.

My team and I, along with our project, Beyond Good and Evil 2, are not impacted by the recent company changes. Please see the official press release for details about the new organizational structure.

I was very sorry to hear about the recent cancellations impacting people at Ubisoft and throughout the gaming industry. I encourage everyone, including myself, to offer support to those affected in any way we can.

We remain committed and focused on delivering a remarkable game for our players to enjoy.”

It’s been almost 20 years since Ubisoft first announced Beyond Good & Evil 2, which is a remarkably long development period for a video game. The game has faced numerous challenges, but Ubisoft appears committed to finally bringing it to completion.

Mesmar took over leadership of the game in October 2024, and we’re hoping he’s made progress in improving things and setting it on a positive course.
