Sheldon Cooper, the main character from The Big Bang Theory and known for being remarkably intelligent, might be getting some attention from fans of the show. About a year and a half after the series ended on CBS, it seems people watching internationally are…
According to data from FlixPatrol as of December 15th, Young Sheldon is currently the tenth most popular show on Starz worldwide. The show is seeing a boost in viewers from international audiences, particularly in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, where it ranks third and fourth respectively on Starz’s local top 10 lists.
As a critic, I’ve been consistently impressed with Young Sheldon, and its final season really highlighted why it’s been such a success for seven years, beautifully wrapping up the stories of characters we’ve all come to love. Collider’s Emily Cappello said it best back in March 2024, and I wholeheartedly agree. In fact, CNN’s Brian Lowry even argued that those final episodes were Emmy-worthy, and I wouldn’t disagree – it was a strong finish to a truly charming show.
He noted that the CBS comedy hasn’t often been mentioned when discussing awards. He believes its powerfully moving and ultimately fulfilling final episode deserves recognition, but doubts it will receive any.
Young Sheldon Isn’t The Only Big Bang Theory Spin-Off To Find Critical Success
Lowry was right to suspect that Young Sheldon wouldn’t win any major awards. Despite positive reviews and the huge success of its predecessor, The Big Bang Theory (which received 55 Emmy nominations), Young Sheldon never earned a nomination. The Big Bang Theory did, however, receive one nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for the episode “The 6:10 To Lubbock.” While the recent spin-off, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, didn’t win against The Studio, it’s been well-received by both critics and viewers.
The show, now in its second season, follows Georgie Cooper, Sheldon’s brother, and his wife Mandy as they experience life and marriage in the 1990s. It’s currently receiving high praise, with an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, proving it’s both funny and emotionally engaging.
According to Ana Dumaraog of Screen Rant, the continuation of Young Sheldon, titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, demonstrates the success of Chuck Lorre’s television series, which is now in its second season.
As a big fan of the Sheldon universe, I’m happy to say you can currently catch Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory over on HBO. If you’re looking for the newest addition, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, that’s streaming on Paramount+. And good news for those who want even more – we’re expecting the next chapter to hit HBO Max around 2026!
