Tubi, the free streaming service, will soon remove an animated comedy starring Bill Murray that many viewers may have forgotten. However, Tubi is also expanding its selection of animated movies in April, adding titles like Ice Age: The Meltdown, The Croods, and Home from DreamWorks. As part of this update, a few movies will be removed from the service.
Between his roles in the 2000 film Charlie’s Angels and the acclaimed 2023 movie Lost in Translation, Bill Murray appeared in the action-comedy Osmosis Jones. This unique film, which combines live-action and animation, is soon leaving Tubi. Osmosis Jones tells the story of Frank DeTorre, a zookeeper who doesn’t take care of himself, and whose body is depicted as a busy city. When Frank gets sick with a dangerous virus, an animated white blood cell named Osmosis Jones has to fight it off.
Osmosis Jones Is an Underrated Gem in Bill Murray’s Filmography
Bill Murray is known for classics like Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters, Lost in Translation, and Rushmore. However, Osmosis Jones is a surprisingly good movie that many people have overlooked. While it didn’t receive great reviews when it first came out – it currently has a 55% critic score and 42% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes – it’s gained a better reputation over time. It’s definitely worth watching again, or even for the first time – you likely won’t be disappointed.
Osmosis Jones has gained a dedicated following over the years, and despite some less-than-stellar live-action scenes, the animated world within Frank’s body remains impressively creative and visually appealing. The movie shines with its witty jokes about the human body and its imaginative take on how things work inside us – the stomach becomes a bustling airport, the armpit a mobster hideout, and cells are portrayed as cops battling villainous viruses. Laurence Fishburne delivers a fantastic performance as the intimidating villain Thrax, leading to exciting and visually dynamic action sequences. It’s a film that appeals to both children and adults, thanks to its bright, cartoonish animation style.
Where to Stream Osmosis Jones After It Leaves Tubi?
The movie Osmosis Jones will soon be leaving Tubi, but you’ll still be able to watch it online, and even for free! It’s currently available on free streaming services like Sling TV, Plex, and The Roku Channel. You can also rent or buy it digitally. While it’s not on major platforms like Netflix or HBO Max right now, it might become available again in the future.
