It’s common for singers to try their hand at acting, and recently, Charli XCX did just that. She starred as a version of herself in the new mockumentary film, ‘The Moment’.
Billie Eilish is set to star in a movie adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s famous novel, The Bell Jar. This will be a leading acting role for her.
Deadline reports that Sarah Polley, the director of Women Talking, will also write and direct the new film.
Honestly, details are pretty scarce right now about this new movie, but I do know Joy Gorman Wettels – she did great work on ’13 Reasons Why’ – is producing, along with Plan B Entertainment and StudioCanal. That’s a solid team, so I’m definitely keeping an eye on it!

Published in 1963, The Bell Jar is Sylvia Plath’s only novel. It’s a story loosely based on her own life, following a young woman named Esther Greenwood as she pursues a career in New York City during the 1950s.
When Esther’s dreams for the future fall apart, she experiences a deep emotional breakdown. She feels suffocated, as if trapped inside a distorted and isolating bubble that changes how she sees the world.
The story was first made into a movie in 1979, directed by Larry Peerce and featuring Marilyn Hassett and Julie Harris. A later film adaptation planned for 2007 with Julia Stiles was ultimately never produced.
