Billy Joel’s honesty will be reassuring for his fans.
Two months following the cancellation of his tour due to being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, a condition affecting the brain where excess fluid accumulates within the skull, the cherished musician posted an update on his health status.
Billy explained during his appearance on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast on July 21 that the situation is not yet finalized. He added that it’s still undergoing further development.
The 76-year-old also shared insight into how the disorder is affecting his daily life.
He put it this way, ‘My equilibrium isn’t great, feels like I’m on a ship.’ He admitted that the root cause remains unknown, but Billy suspects it might be due to his past drinking habits. ‘I figured it was probably because of my previous heavy alcohol consumption. I used to drink quite a bit,’ he said.
However, he asserted, “I’m feeling well. It seems they label what I have as a brain disorder, which makes it sound more serious than how I truly feel.
In May, the Grammy-winning artist postponed his tour due to worsening symptoms such as balance issues, hearing loss, and vision problems. Despite undergoing therapy after receiving his diagnosis, his medical team suggested he terminate the remaining performances for health reasons.
In a heartfelt message I shared via Instagram on May 23rd, I genuinely apologize for any disappointment my actions may have caused. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
The announcement also verified that the “Vienna” singer, who is a parent to Alexa Ray (39), his daughter with ex Christie Brinkley and Della Rose (9) and Remy (7) with his wife Alexis Roderick, eagerly anticipates the moment when he can perform on stage once more.
After hearing about the news, many fans and close acquaintances expressed their good wishes towards the singer. Among them was his first wife, Elizabeth Weber.
She stated to TopMob News in June that what she truly desires is for him to regain his health so he can appreciate life, spend time with his wife and children, and enjoy these moments. His well-being is all that matters to her.
Despite splitting up in 1982, it’s hardly unexpected that Billy’s ongoing success and popularity remains strong in her eyes.
Or, put simply: Even after their separation in 1982, it’s hardly a shock that Billy continues to thrive and be admired by her.
Elizabeth remarked, ‘He’s put in a tremendous amount of effort throughout his entire life.’ I’ve never met anyone who has worked as hard as him during the time we spent collaborating.

In 2014, the actress who played a significant role in “12 Years a Slave” was diagnosed with fibroids, which are non-cancerous growths that can occur within or near the uterus. This diagnosis came during the same year she won an Oscar for her impressive performance in that film.
In 2025, I finally shared my diagnosis with the world, confessing on Instagram that I had endured silent struggle for over a decade.
During puberty, women are often informed that menstruation brings pain, which is just an inevitable aspect of being female. However, it seems many of us endure this struggle individually, as it significantly impacts our lives.

In a message, I shared, “Suki, it seems like you’ve stopped posting on the old Twitter platform.” Reflecting back, about half a year ago, I was wearing such snug pants that they unexpectedly led to an injury – a hernia. Ever since then, I’ve been hesitant to disclose this personal detail to you.
In an announcement made in April 2025, the former cast member of “Beverly Hills, 90210” shared that he was undergoing recovery following a near-burst appendix surgery.

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”
11-year-old Adam Devine was struck by a cement truck, an incident that left lasting effects on his health up until the present time.
In a 2025 episode of the “In Depth With Graham Bensinger” podcast, Devine expressed that it had been an incredibly difficult time for him. He explained that he’s experiencing spasms throughout his body and, for a period, was informed by doctors that his condition was life-threatening, with the grim prognosis being within the past year.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d say I’ve learned that discomfort ebbs and flows, much like the tides. Sometimes, my body feels a bit out of sync, a touch off-balance, as if certain mechanisms within aren’t quite functioning at their best.
Previously part of Bachelor Nation, this individual divulged he had to visit the hospital, moving on hands and knees, because of intense back pain that worsened during a recreational vehicle journey with a companion.
In that March 2025 episode of his “Trading Secrets” podcast, he remarked: “At this moment, from my knees to my toes, it feels oddly tingling, which is surprising.” To give you an idea, let me clarify that just a couple of weeks, or even a month ago, I was likely squatting about 295 pounds. Yet, as things stand now, I can’t manage a simple squat on one leg. In fact, if I try, I’d topple over. It feels like I’ve had a stroke or something similar.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”
In March 2025, Gina Kirschenheiter from “Real Housewives of Orange County” disclosed that her former spouse, Matt Kirschenheiter, experienced a heart attack. Fortunately, he pulled through this challenging situation.

In February 2025, the former star of Even Stevens disclosed that she was accidentally shot in the face during a clay pigeon shooting excursion to celebrate her husband Brendan Rooney’s birthday.
She posted on Instagram that there was another group with us, who carelessly discharged their firearm incorrectly and it struck me in the face. Instantly, @thebrendanrooney intervened, assessed my injuries, and hurried me to the hospital. I was wounded in five spots, one of which was just a fraction of an inch away from directly hitting my right eye.
The former star of “Kim Possible” added, “Regrettably, a piece became stuck near my eye, and it’s not safe to operate on it right now. My doctors will keep an eye on me for the time being (I can see fine for now).
The actress expressed her heartfelt gratitude for being alive. She shared how deeply she cherishes her daughters, husband, family, and friends, stating that she had a sudden realization of her life passing before her. In her words, she strongly urged everyone to take every opportunity to embrace those around them. Life, she emphasized, can unexpectedly transform in the blink of an eye.
Despite the internet often being unkind, Amy Schumer is grateful for this instance as it provided her with answers. In an episode of Call Her Daddy in January 2025, she recounted the situation, saying “The internet really went after me following a series of interviews, and I thought, ‘Everyone, calm down,'” but then medical professionals joined the conversation in the comments, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome due to elevated cortisol levels or steroid injections. She was surprised to find herself being trolled by doctors. After learning that her symptoms could be due to the steroid injections she received for scars from a breast reduction and C-section, Amy realized she had been diagnosed with Cushing syndrome. She hadn’t known about this condition if it weren’t for the harsh comments she received online. Today, Amy is relieved to know that she’s healthy, as she shared in her February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Discovering I had a type of Cushing syndrome that would naturally resolve itself was the best news I could have imagined.

I wouldn’t wish an injury like that on any parent.
Hailey Bieber experienced a terrifying incident in March 2022, when during breakfast with husband Justin Bieber, she began experiencing stroke-like symptoms. She recalled, “Justin asked if I was alright, but I didn’t respond because I wasn’t sure. When he asked again, I couldn’t speak and my right side of the face started drooping.” Although her speech returned and the facial drooping ceased, she went to the hospital for a check-up. Hailey revealed that she had suffered a small blood clot in her brain, which was diagnosed as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Further tests at UCLA discovered a hole in her heart known as a patent foramen ovale (PFO), through which the blood clot escaped and travelled to her brain. After undergoing a successful PFO closure procedure, Hailey reported feeling wonderful.
In the same year as Hailey’s health incident, Justin himself encountered a similar issue. Specifically, in June 2022, the artist known for “Baby” publicly announced that he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome. This rare condition affected his facial nerves, causing temporary paralysis and leading to the cancellation of the rest of his Justice World Tour. In an Instagram video, Justin explained that the virus attacked the nerve in his ear, resulting in facial paralysis on one side. He pointed out that his eye wouldn’t blink, he couldn’t smile on that side, and his nostril wouldn’t move—meaning full paralysis on that side of his face. Remarkably, he shared with his followers that eating became increasingly difficult, but eventually, the paralysis subsided. Hailey expressed her relief during a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America, stating that Justin was recovering well and feeling much better, despite the sudden and frightening nature of the situation. She added that she was grateful he was okay overall.
Jamie Foxx initially chose to keep his April 2023 hospitalization a private matter, but later shared his experiences. In Atlanta, as he recounted in his 2024 Netflix special titled “What Had Happened Was…”, he complained of a severe headache and asked for an aspirin, but before obtaining one, he lost consciousness. He spent the next 20 days unaware.
Upon initial examination by a doctor who administered a cortisone shot and sent him home, Jamie’s sister Deidra Dixon became concerned and drove him to another hospital. It was there that they discovered he had suffered a brain bleed leading to a stroke.
Twenty days after the operation, on May 4, Jamie awoke in a wheelchair unable to walk. He subsequently traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.
“I just want to express my gratitude for every prayer,” he said, “as I truly believe I needed each and every one.
In 2019, Emilia Clarke, who is known for her role in Game of Thrones, published an essay in The New Yorker titled “A Battle for My Life.” During filming, she experienced severe headaches at the gym that led to a hospital visit. The diagnosis was a life-threatening subarachnoid hemorrhage due to an aneurysm. She underwent immediate surgery and faced complications such as aphasia, but recovered and left the hospital a month later. However, in 2013, she needed another surgery when a growth related to the aneurysm doubled in size. This time, they had to operate through her skull. Fortunately, she is now fully recovered.
Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, expresses her gratitude towards her family as they stood by her side following a severe stroke she experienced in January 2024. In an interview with Will Marfuggi of TopMob News in December 2024, she shared that she reached out to them after the incident and everyone rushed to help her.
As Cori’s health situation was complicated due to other medical concerns, she ended up staying longer at the hospital than anticipated. She explained that despite having the option to go home following the stroke, her Lupus wasn’t in a good state, causing her kidneys to fail. This led to several complications.
Currently, Cori is recovering well and stated, “I’m doing great… I just had a little bit of motor skills that I needed to regain. But other than that, I was fine.

To unravel the mystery surrounding her health, Shailene embarked on a quest for answers. With a background in holistic medicine and herbalism, she decided to collaborate with both conventional doctors and alternative healers. This approach was aimed at finding some semblance of comfort within herself.
This journey took a decade to complete, during which time Shailene faced other challenges stemming from her physical discomfort. These included fearing food due to stomach pain, developing body dysmorphia, and grappling with confusion about self-identity and personal safety.
After addressing both her physical and mental health issues, Shailene is now in a much better state of wellbeing. She shared that this long journey eventually resolved itself physically, leaving her healthy and happy.
