Binance leads, Bybit follows: Top CEXs for retail investors

  • Retail investors dominate trading activity on CEXes.

Based on the most recent findings from CryptoQuant, it appears that retail cryptocurrency traders are primarily driving the action on centralized cryptocurrency exchanges (CEXs).

More than six out of ten belong to a demographic that includes young, educated males who have at least three years of expertise in the field.

The data from the survey indicates that the majority of crypto users tend to be relatively young, well-versed in this field (having spent at least three years within it), and highly educated. Notably, about 60% fall into the age range of 25-44. Furthermore, a substantial proportion (over 62%) possess extensive experience in the industry. When it comes to their investment habits, most crypto users invest less than $10,000 annually, highlighting the significant presence of individual investors in this market.

Binance tops global usage

Globally, Binance leads among centralized exchanges (CEX), with over half of the surveyed users regularly choosing it as their main platform.

Furthermore, almost half of those surveyed chose to hold their investments within the platform, demonstrating a strong trust in the reliability of the trading platform.

Apart from that, it stood out as the number one choice among long-term traders, with Bybit and OKX following closely. This might be due to its extensive liquidity, a feature that allows for smooth trade entry and exit with minimal price discrepancies.

The analysis indicated that Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and artificial intelligence (AI) tokens were the most frequently traded cryptocurrencies on many digital exchanges. With President Donald Trump focusing more on pro-cryptocurrency policies, both BTC and ETH might pick up speed in market value.
