Bindi Irwin has been cheering her brother on from afar.
Bindi Irwin, the winner of Dancing With the Stars season 21 and mother to 4-year-old Grace with her husband Chandler Powell, has missed two weeks of the current season. She recently explained why she hasn’t been able to watch her brother Robert Irwin compete with his partner Whitney Carson for the Mirrorball Trophy.
Bindi shared on Instagram that she, her husband Chandler, and their daughter Grace all have a bug, and she’s lost her voice. She’ll be watching and quietly cheering on Robert and Witney on ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ She expressed how incredibly proud she is of their hard work and dedication, especially for their Halloween dance.
The 27-year-old concluded her message by encouraging her followers to vote for her brother, and she explained how they could cast their ballots.
Bindi’s mother, Terri Irwin, commented “Sending get well vibes!” She shares Bindi and Robert with her late husband, Steve Irwin.
For the second week in a row, Bindi couldn’t be there to support her brother at his dance performances. She had to miss the taping of a recent show, Wicked Week, because her daughter was unwell.
Bindi shared on Instagram October 21st that she and her daughter, Grace, love watching Uncle Robert compete on ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ This week, however, Grace has a cold, so they’ll be cheering him on from home.
The woman, a mother of one, had shared how excited she was to support her brother during his competition on Dancing with the Stars.
After Robert was cast, she posted on Instagram in April, writing that he was going to be amazing in the ballroom. She also shared how incredibly proud she was of all he’s accomplished.
I’m so excited to support you every week and watch you inspire others with your incredible strength, kindness, and determination. Wishing you all the best on this amazing journey!

Twenty-one-year-old Robert said his older sister gave him plenty of advice before the competition.
He shared with TopMob News in September that she advised him to give his best effort while also having fun and making the experience his own. He expressed his excitement to do just that, saying he was incredibly proud of her while watching her shine on the dance floor – he felt like the proudest little brother in the world, and that’s what motivated him to participate.

For Steve Irwin, being the Crocodile Hunter wasn’t just a job—it was his calling. He grew up immersed in wildlife, explaining in 2002, “I was born into it. Didn’t have a choice.” From a young age, he assisted his parents, herpetologist Bob Irwin and wildlife rehabilitator Lyn Irwin, on expeditions and at their reptile park in Queensland, Australia. He later worked with the government to capture and relocate crocodiles, ensuring public safety and aiding conservation efforts.
In 1991, Steve took over the family reptile park, where he met his future wife, Terri Irwin, an American visitor. They married in 1992 and soon after began filming the popular docuseries, The Crocodile Hunter. Together, Steve and Terri expanded the park into the Australia Zoo and raised their two children, Bindi and Robert, sharing their passion for conservation through their television shows and the zoo.
Tragically, Steve died on September 4, 2006, at the age of 44, after being pierced in the heart by a stingray barb while filming in the Great Barrier Reef. However, his dedication to wildlife and his family continue to inspire, and he often stated that his proudest achievement was his children.

Like her husband Steve, Terri Irwin developed a passion for animals as a child, gaining experience at a veterinary hospital and wildlife rehabilitation center before they met. She believes their meeting was destiny, telling Oprah Winfrey that they both weren’t afraid to take chances. She fondly recalled Steve asking her to marry him and move to Australia to work with crocodiles, a bold move she embraced because of her strong feelings for him.
Since Steve’s passing, Terri has continued to manage Australia Zoo, lead the Wildlife Warriors conservation organization, and champion wildlife protection. She also published her memoir, My Steve, in 2007, became an Australian citizen in 2009, and starred in the documentary series Crikey! It’s the Irwins with her children from 2018 to 2022.
In a 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Terri described her life as full and rewarding, expressing how much she misses Steve while also feeling grateful for everything she has.

Bindi Irwin, born in July 1998, has been in the public eye since she was a child. She first appeared on TV alongside her father in The Crocodile Hunter, and later starred in shows like Bindi: The Jungle Girl and Crikey! It’s the Irwins. In 2015, she won season 21 of Dancing With the Stars.
Like her parents, Bindi is dedicated to wildlife conservation. She’s also an author, having written the children’s book You Are a Wildlife Warrior!: Saving Animals & the Planet, and a vocal advocate for those with endometriosis, openly sharing her own experiences.
Bindi and her husband, Chandler Powell, married in 2020 and welcomed their daughter, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, in 2021.
Many remember Bindi’s moving speech at her father’s funeral when she was just eight years old, and she continues to honor his legacy. In a February 2025 Instagram post, she wrote, “To the world, you will forever be remembered as the greatest Wildlife Warrior. To me, you’ll always be the most incredible dad and now our family’s guiding light. I love you and I miss you every day.”

Born five years after his sister Bindi, Robert Irwin arrived in December 2003 and quickly followed in his family’s footsteps, using television to educate people about the natural world. He’s appeared on shows like Wild But True and Crikey! It’s the Irwins, and has also hosted I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, done some modeling, and is currently a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. Beyond being on camera, Robert is a talented wildlife photographer.
He also stays busy working at the Australia Zoo, carrying on the legacy of his father, Steve Irwin. In a 2024 interview with BBC Radio 2, Robert shared, “He is my superhero. He always will be. He was, I think, a superhero to an entire generation. There isn’t a day that goes by where someone doesn’t share a story about him. To hear that, it really means the absolute world. It’s an honor. It really is an honor to make sure everything he lived and died for continues.”

Bindi Irwin’s love story mirrors her parents’. Just as Steve and Terri met when Terri was a tourist at the Australia Zoo, Bindi met her husband, Chandler Powell, there as well.
It happened in 2013 when Chandler, a professional wakeboarder at the time, was in Australia for a competition. He took a tour of the zoo led by Bindi, and they instantly connected. As Chandler recalled in a 2024 podcast, they “hit it off right away” and felt an immediate connection.
Being teenagers, Chandler respectfully asked Bindi’s mother for permission to pursue a relationship. Bindi later shared with Entertainment Tonight in 2016 that she didn’t hear from Chandler for a while because he had written a letter asking if they could stay in touch.
Years later, in 2020, they were married at the very place they met: the Australia Zoo. Bindi celebrated their marriage on Instagram in May 2025, calling marrying her best friend “10/10 would recommend.”

Grace was born in March 2021 and, like her parents, immediately showed a passion for animals. However, her mother, Bindi, is waiting before letting her get near the crocodiles.
Bindi Irwin says her daughter, Grace, won’t be helping with crocodile feeding anytime soon. Speaking to TODAY.com in February 2025, she explained that she wants to ensure Grace is prepared for any animal encounter. Grace currently loves koalas, tortoises, giraffes, and red pandas, and Bindi feels comfortable with her around those animals. Bindi also shared with Us Weekly in May 2024 that she wants Grace to know her grandfather, Steve Irwin, whom Grace affectionately calls ‘Grandpa Crocodile,’ and it’s wonderful watching Grace enjoy documentaries about him.
