As a huge BioShock fan, I’m so excited to finally hear some news about the next game – whether it’s BioShock 4 or something else! It’s been seven years since 2K Games said they were bringing the series back, and it’s been a bit of a strange road. Instead of getting the original team back together, they created a new studio called Cloud Chamber. Honestly, a lot of us had almost forgotten about Cloud Chamber because we hadn’t heard anything from them since 2019, but things are finally starting to change!
Reports suggest the game’s development faced major problems, leading many to believe the studio, Cloud Chamber, was struggling with the scope of the project. This likely explains why Rod Fergusson, a highly experienced game developer, was brought in last year to lead the franchise, coinciding with changes to the studio’s structure. Fergusson is well-known for his significant contributions to the Gears of War and Diablo series, and he also played a key role in the release of BioShock Infinite. While the game hasn’t been shown publicly yet, a new report has surfaced with some unofficial details.
New BioShock Report
A new report about the upcoming BioShock game comes from a reliable industry insider known as V Scooper, who recently revealed the setting for the next Tomb Raider title. According to this source, the new BioShock will be an immersive sim, similar to past games in the series. Players will explore a detailed, interconnected city and uncover the truth behind a crumbling utopian society. The report also mentions the game will feature a semi-open world, choices that impact the story, realistic physics, and the ability to change the environment. It’s being described as having some RPG elements, and enemies will react and adapt to your strategies.
Keep in mind that this new report shouldn’t be taken as definitive. It doesn’t share when the game will be revealed, released, or what systems it will be on. It also doesn’t say if it will tie into the new Netflix series. However, the report does say we’ll get more detailed information soon, with further updates expected this Friday and in the weeks to come.
As of right now, 2K Games and Cloud Chamber haven’t officially responded to this report. We don’t anticipate they will, but we’ll update this article if they do. We’d love to hear your thoughts – feel free to leave a comment or join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum.
